The ACC basically clinched a bid yesterday.
Joining the SEC champion as in.

9 teams for 4 berths IMO.

Contention:
ACC:- 2 teams one bid
Clemson-Miami winner is in the playoffs barring mass chaos and both losing games before the championship game.

SEC- 3 teams one bid
Alabama-Auburn winner vs. Georgia is in.

Big XII- Oklahoma is in if they win out.

Big Ten- Wisconsin is in if they win out.

PAC-12 and Notre Dame are finished.

So if serve holds and their are no upsets.

1. SEC champion
2. ACC champion
3. Oklahoma
4. Wisconsin

Now if there are upsets then lying in the weeds beyond these 9 teams is
Ohio State.

I can’t see anyone else making the CFB playoffs from these 9 teams except Ohio State and that is only because the committee loves Ohio State.

.
Zero chance of that happening. Not even 5%. Zero. Agree with the thread though. The Ohio st. part is scary yet true. Totally still in play.

Agree. I was looking around for potential upsets that "could" upset the apple-cart last night and was struggling to find some though but we all know something will happen. I guess if Miami travels to Pitt their last game and its cold and snowy could Pitt beat Miami in Pitt? Possible. Then if Miami beat Clemson in the ACC Title game would that leave the ACC out all together? Probably.

The SEC is also interesting. Georgia vs Georgia Tech game is something to keep an eye on. If GT ever won, then Auburn beat Alabama, then Georgia and Auburn both with 2 losses inside the SEC would play in the title game and also that locks in Bama with just 1 loss automatically into the playoff and could actually HURT the true SEC champ as they would then have 2 losses? Or would 2 SEC teams then go and you kick out an unbeaten Wisconsin or a 1 loss Oklahoma?

So it will be interesting to see how it plays out but I don't see alot of chaos as there aren't any match-ups that are primed for an upset.

Zero chance Ohio State gets in. It's not even close to the same thing as last year. They only had the 3 point loss to Penn State last year. This year they got bombed by Iowa and not a close loss to Oklahoma either.

I think Auburn will beat Bama then lose to UGA in SEC Championship. UGA is in.
Clemson beats the U in ACC Championship and gets in.
OU will win out.
OSU beats Wisky in B10 and gets in

1. OU
2. Clemson
3. UGA
4. OSU

Zero chance Ohio State gets in.
We all want it be zero but it's just not. There are absolutely scenarios where all hell breaks loose in other conferences and they streamroll their way to B1G title and grab the 4th slot. It's not a zero percent scenario. I wish it were.

Ohio State should be done.

There best wins will be against Wisconsin, Penn State, Michigan State, Michigan.

Give me 2 loss Georgia over Ohio State.

The margin of loss to Iowa should knock them out.

Could not agree more. SHOULD be done. But, they are Ohio St. ugh. Let's hope the committee is as good at this stuff as Professor Alsacs

In this scenario, I think the U still should get in over OSU assuming that the ACC championship game is close. Just compare their schedules and wins. I'm not sure how you put a two loss OSU in over a team that's only loss would be to someone in the final 4.

The committee has preferences and states them... but these are never absolutes.

A one loss Alabama team is not out of the picture.

Would be interesting what they do with a Miami team that loses only to #3/4 Clemson in ACC championship game and an ACC champion Clemson whose only loss is an * due to losing their starting quarterback.

Would a 1 loss Miami get in over a 2 loss Auburn - assuming Miami plays clemson tight? Alternatively, does Miami get in over an undefeated Wiscy for the 4th slot - assuming again that Miami plays clemson tough but comes up a little short?

Yup and barely beat PSU in Columbus. They're done.

Unlikely given that Auburn would have beaten UGA, Bama and UGA in a row. That would be pretty damn impressive.

I heard some people say that last night, that would be an outrage, they got crushed twice this year, don't deserve a bid even if they win out.

Zero chance Ohio State gets in.

Strongly disagree that the chances of Ohio State getting in is zero. I would put it closer to 15-20%.

20% is way too high.

Them beating undefeated Wisconsin isn’t going to be enough.

Ohio State is going to get dinged for the blowout fashion of their loss to Iowa. Committee said Washington State’s margin of loss to California hurt them in their ranking.
Ohio State gave up a 50 burger and lost by 4 TDs.
The buckeyes need a decent amount of help.
I see 2 SEC teams more likely than Ohio State getting in.

You guys just have Big 10 paranoia. We'll see...

If Bama wins out, I just don't see a two-loss Georgia getting in over a 2-loss Big Ten Champion Ohio State who will have beaten PSU/MSU/Michigan/Wisconsin down the stretch of it's season.

Michigan won’t be ranked if Ohio State beats them.
Game control metrics used by the committee ding the Penn State win.

Michigan State was a dominant win but they are nothing special outside of Big Ten wins.

Wisconsin’s schedule is really medicore.

Ohio State has 2 blowout losses. They aren’t getting the benefit of the doubt.

NO. Auburn goes

I made a note to myself a month ago to bump this thread. People doubted Ohio State. They have a solid chance of getting in.

It would be an absolute joke if osu gets in. I also fully expect it.

Then I get to hear all these idiots talk about in living in akron OH.

Fkk this state.
