I can’t believe how badly Purdue beatdown Ohio State.
That was a butt whooping.
I mean it’s Alabama and everyone else.
I think they are a playoff lock even if they lose to LSU or Florida/Georgia.

Clemson has an easy path even though we were really close to popping them at their place.

Big Ten- I think Michigan and Ohio State can still win out and they are in.

Big XII- Texas, Oklahoma, WVU if any wins out they are in.

PAC-12 I don’t know if any PAC-12 team except Washington State can make it by winning out.

Independent: Notre Dame will need to be undefeated and they are in. However if they lose a game they should be done.

So we got
1. Alabama
2. Clemson
3. Big Ten Champ 1 loss Ohio State or Michigan.
4. Notre Dame if undefeated.

5. 1 loss Big XII Champ WVU, Texas, Oklahoma
6. PAC-12 Champ.
There is a real chance we could see a 2 loss champion in the playoff.
ND at 11-1 should be 5 or 6. You want your independence fine. Unless your undefeated go away from the NC.

Bama and Clemson are locks. If Mich wins out they are in. The Pac 12 is finished. My question would be if ou wins out and nd loses once who are they taking?

Lsu’s gonna beat bama this year

Who gets left out in this scenario?

Undefeated Clemson
Undefeated Notre Dame
1 loss Big Ten champ either Michigan/OSU
1 loss SEC Champ Georgia
1 loss Bama who loses to Georgia in the SEC title game

I don’t think Bama is anywhere close to being a lock. They have some very difficult games coming up. If they lose at LSU they will be sweating it out.

Michigan and OSU can't win out - they play each other at year-end. The winner goes to the playoffs, the loser may not even make a New Year's 6 bowl depending on how Wisconsin does.

edit: rereading your post, I think you're saying whichever wins out is in, correct?

No problem. ND fans know and accept this.

Without hesitation Notre Dame.
You got 3 conference champions and the best team in the nation.

If the Big Ten champ is Michigan, who is their loss to?

You seriously expect the Committee to put an Ohio State team who lost by four touchdowns to an unranked team in over an undefeated one?

Yes.
Because conference titles are part of the criteria.
One team plays 13 games vs. 12
Then with Bama the eye test clearly in their favor over ND.
Ohio State 1 loss conference champion > Notre Dame undefeated

Lsu doesn't have the offense to beat them.

Here is an interesting scenario uga wins out beating bama do they both get in?

Bama will put 40 on LSU.
They have an NFL franchise QB.
LSU’s offense couldn’t crack 20 on Mississippi State and were handed 7 poInts by their D after the Int on Fitzgerald on the first drive.

Clemson and Bama are in neither will lose twice.

I think the Big 12 Championship Game that is a thing again will keep one of their teams out and noone finishes with 1 loss. Good amount of games vs each other left. The other games are tough. Just can't see WVU/UT/OU winning out under any circumstances.

I think 1 loss ND after we beat them still gets in.

Michigan/OSU winner is in if they win out no questions asked.

That is your 4 teams. Next up 2 loss LSU UF or UGA. OR an undefeated AAC team. UCF/USF/Cinci all still have to play each other and then you have to beat one of them again in the CCG. If one of them wins out I think they deserve the 4th spot and to see Bama.

No point mentioning any other team they have to win out and won't. I think they committee will be chosing between 4-5 2 loss teams for the 4th spot.

This is why you need an 8-team playoff. Conference champs + 3 at large.

New Years Six Bowls become the first round the week before Christmas. Final 4 is New Year’s Day. Title game one week later.

Don’t need the huge layover in December for the postseason.

We aren't in disagreement over whether Bama will beat LSU. I think they will win handily.

But if they were to lose to Georgia in the SEC Title game, I don't think they are anywhere close to being a lock. You would possibly have Georgia, Clemson, Notre Dame, Michigan/Ohio State and Oklahoma in the mix -- those are 6 teams for 4 spots.

Which is garbage.
I don’t disagree but I don’t think anyone but Clemson or Michigan could beat Bama with Tua.
Clemson could get pressure with just 4 as their DL could go beastmode in a one game situation and their QB Lawrence could light up a suspect Bama D.
I don’t think Michigan could score enough even though their D is elite
So really it’s just Clemson I would give a realistic chance.

Too much football. Maybe if they start playing the players this can be a thing but these kids already play 15 games if they are on a playoff team likely playing a CCG. You want them playing 16 games a year and as many games as 20 NFL teams play?

On paper, Alabama should never lose. And yet they do.

But then they aren't held accountable for it.

FCS, D2 and D3 players play that many games if they make a postseason run, and they aren't paid.
