SMU coach making a statement than ONLY SMu and Ala have 4 wins vs P4 teams with winning records.
I know we were told we had a weak schedule. But you go back and look now and we have a shot at 11 of 12 having .500 or better records.
Beat Miami
VT can still get over .500
Pitt
BC could end up .500 or better
Stan being the bad loss.
Cal needs to beat Stan to be .500
GT can be no worse than .500
NC st needs 1 win
HC needs 1 win to get to .500
UNLV will be over .500 as will UConn.
Ohio will be over .500
We could end up with Miami/VT/GT/Cal/NC ST and 3 OCC over .500 and then 3 ranked wins
My projections. I think there will be a lot of chaos.
1. Oregon 12-0 B1G CG vs tOSU
2. Ohio State 11-1 B1G CG vs Oregon
3. Texas 11-1 SEC CG vs 4 way tie breaker below
4. Bama 10-2
5. Ole Miss 10-2
6. Georgia 10-2
7. Tennessee 10-2
8. Indiana 11-1
9. Boise State 11-1 MWC CG vs UNLV
10. Notre Dame 10-2
11. Penn State 10-2
12. BYU 11-1 MWC CG vs Colorado
13. Miami 10-2
14. South Carolina 9-3
15. SMU 10-2 ACC CG vs Clemson
16. Tulane 10-2 AAC CG vs Army
17. Clemson 9-3 ACC CG vs SMU
18. Colorado 9-3 B12 CG vs BYU
19. UNLV 10-2 MWC CG vs Boise State
Ironically if this were a 4 team playoff both the B1G and SEC get 2 teams.
I think Ohio State wins the B1G and gets the 1 seed. Oregon will lose and get the 5 seed. Not sure who wins SEC #2 to get into the SEC CG. So I will go with Texas as the #2 seed. SEC CG loser gets stuck with the 8 seed.
ACC is in danger of not making the playoffs. We should all be UNLV fans to be safe. I do think they win. Clemson I am picking for the ACC, Colorado for the B12, and Tulane for the AAC. In that case I think Tulane gets jumped by Clemson, Colorado, and UNLV and misses out on the playoff.
Notre Dame sneaks in as the last team in. First team out Penn State.
1. Ohio State vs 8. SEC CG loser vs 9. SEC3
2. Texas vs 7. SEC2 vs 10. Indiana
3. Colorado vs 6. SEC1 vs 11. Notre Dame
4. Clemson vs 5. Oregon vs 12. UNLV
I think the Semis are
8. SEC CG loser vs 5. Oregon
2. Texas vs 6. SEC1
CG
8. SEC CG loser vs 6. SEC1
The ACC can’t miss the playoffs as the winner of the CG is guaranteed a spot in the playoffs
Nope
I guess technically you’re right
But it’s designed to be the four P4s and 1 from the G5
SU beating Miami is very bad for the ACC.
Yawn. Not interested.
And really all Clemson did wrong was come out flat against Georgia in week one and that perception still really hasn't changed on a national level.Actually under the old system the B1G could have had 3 teams in the semifinals. Their best season and the system changes. Vice versa with the SEC.
Clemson carried the ACC for years but could ruin the ACC this year.
I sort of take the opposite stance - I think Penn St and Indiana have proven nothing other than the big 10 stinks. Perv State's best win is what Wisconsin? Indiana hangs its hat on a win over a bad Michigan team. They better play OSU close this weekend or they are going to drop. And really all Clemson did wrong was come out flat against Georgia in week one and that perception still really hasn't changed on a national level.
SMU is barely a blip on anyone radar and they have been very good since week one.
Meanwhile Miami was beloved and now that they lost to Georgia Tech, they are shunned.
Yet, the SEC (looking at you Bama) are given free passes for their failures and near failures.
I have no gripes with the Big Ten this year. Oregon, Indiana, Ohio State, and Penn State have done the work.
Notre Dame gets too much love. They've won, but who have they played? Even beating Army this coming week, in my eyes, will be a meh moment. They should beat Army with all their talent and size advantages.
Boise has done what they are supposed to do, and BYU wasn't punished too much for their Kansas loss.
David Hale included us in the teams that should be angry considering we have played some real teams versus others on his ESPN article.
But, even if we had beaten Stanford and BC, it appears pretty clear from the committee rankings and approach the ACC is only getting one bid. They have not been kind to the conference, so unless we were to win outright, we probably didn't have a chance to begin with.
Yup. Hard to argue that ND doesn’t have the worst loss of the one loss teams. But they do have one of the better wins against A&M.If Ohio wins tonight then they likely make the MAC CG. But should they lose there likely will be a four way tie for 2nd with Toledo, Buffalo, and the loser of Miami/Bowling Green which is a play in game either way.
Also kind of funny that Notre Dame loses to a team that can’t get top 5 of the MAC and doesn’t get punished.
