We need to skyrocket in the rankings if we beat Miami. At that point it could be 2 current ranked top 20 wins. Also if Georgia Tech beats Georgia they can enter the poll as well.

interesting to see how the last few weeks play out…

Want SU to win Saturday of course, but if they lose it will be Miami-SMU in title game. Clemson vs South Carolina also a big match up.

If SMU wins and Clemson wins, can the ACC get 3 teams in?

Alabama at #13. My god the brand is strong. They are going to get them in come hell or high water.
They need some help. Beating Auburn won't move the needle and they're not in the SEC championship game. They would need Indiana to lose to a 1-10 Purdue and even then Clemson would be in with a win over South Carolina.

If there is major chaos the ACC could get 3 in.

Why does ESPN show a bracket as if CCG don’t happen? Ohio State won’t be #2. UGA won’t be 7. SMU won’t be 9. Is it that hard to have actual analysis?

There are always a few Top 10 teams that lose. Last week we had Bama and Ole Miss. Who will it be this week?

My projections...

1. Ohio State
2. UGA
3. Oregon
4. Penn State
5. Tennessee
6. Texas
7. Indiana
8. Notre Dame
9. SMU
10. Miami
11. Bama
12. Ole Miss
13. South Carolina
14. Iowa State
15. Clemson
16. UNLV
17. Boise State
18. Tulane

Which results in...

1. Ohio State vs 8. Texas vs 9. Indiana
2. UGA vs 7. Tennessee vs 10. Notre Dame
3. Iowa State vs 6. Penn State vs 11. SMU
4. Clemson vs 5. Oregon vs 12. UNLV

6th Conference Champ: Tulane
Top 12 left out: Miami, Bama, Ole Miss

I think both of the above will result in going to 6 conference champs and 8 at larges (14 total) with the Top 2 conference champs (B1G/SEC) getting seeds 1-2. The two best at larges (B1G/SEC) and next 4 champs gets seeds 3-8 and host a first round game. So the 3 seed could be and 2nd team from the B1G or SEC. So it would be...

1. Ohio State
2. UGA
3. Oregon vs 14. Miami
4. Penn State vs 13. SMU
5. Iowa State vs 12. Notre Dame
6. Clemson vs 11. Indiana
7. UNLV vs 10. Texas
8. Tulane vs 9. Tennessee

I also think they need to play the QFs as a home game. You need to give the top seeds a reward for the regular season. Also if you are an Ohio State fan do you really want to travel to a QF, then a SF, then the NCG? That is asking too much.

My QFs
1. Ohio State vs 8. Texas
2. UGA vs 10. Notre Dame
3. Iowa State vs 11. SMU
4. Clemson vs 5. Oregon

Final Four
8. Texas vs 5. Oregon
2. UGA vs 3. Iowa State

NCG
8. Texas vs 2. UGA

Champ
2. UGA

the bracket is a point in time based on the selection teams rankings.

Trying to think of games we need to keep Alabama out. Obviously Auburn winning but I don't think that's happening. Bama lost to both Tennessee and Vanderbilt and they're playing each other this weekend. Need UT to crush Vandy and LSU to curbstomp Oklahoma. Can't have those two recent upset losses get stronger by winning their games this weekend. Also need Clemson to beat South Carolina in a CFP loser leaves town match.

I get that but it is not possible so why even have a bracket? It makes no logical sense. They make is seem like this would be the bracket if everyone wins out knowing it is not possible for everyone to win out given the CCGs. If you are going to assume the champs are Oregon, Texas, Miami then you cannot also assume Ohio State is #2, UGA is #7, and SMU is #9. They are completely opposite assumptions. Use the ESPN FPI and project what the bracket would be. Not hard.

3 teams have pretty much played real solid ball all yr

OSU/Ore/Tex

Ga has probably played the best after that but Fl had them beat if the QB doesn't get hurt
SMU has done its job but the schedule has been easier

Miami has been like KC, on the ropes, but winning

The bottom 6 of the SEC has all shown that that top SEC teams are not at the same level as normal years

The top 4 of the B10 are all much better than the rest of that league.

The B12 who knows.

In a perfect world

B10 gets 4
Acc gets 3
B12 gets 2
SEC gets 3.
ND
P5 gets 1

14 teams

6 really good teams and 8 good teams

But the difference from those 8 and about the next 20 is week to week

Have Texas and Oregon been that great?

Who is Texas' best W? At Vandy? Oklahoma?

Oregon has squeaked by Idaho, Boise State, Ohio State, Wisconsin.

Why have UGA on the 2nd level when they have beaten Clemson, Texas, Tennessee?

agreed, though, at least Oregon beat Ohio State. Texas doesn't have a ranked win all year.

I am not convinced Tex is great, but they have been pretty good on defense every game and on offense dealt with losing the QB. They throttled the NConf teams., held Ark to 200 yds. Beat a Flo team that gave all the other SEC teams fits. The one bad GA game is the one slip up.

I cant punish Ore for being undefeated when they are the only one.

You can argue GA is the best SEC team. But they also had no reason to beat Kent or GA lost to Ala, had troubles with Miss ST and Flo, lost to Ole Miss. Lets see what they do vs Gtech

If SMU wins and Clemson wins, can the ACC get 3 teams in?

I think there is zero chance of this personally.

My impression is that they're content with "plausibly merit-based." There's not really a situation where it would be egregious to only have 1 or 2 ACC teams in, so that's what we'll get as they make room for the teams they'd prefer.

We can't complain too hard about it. We've gotten in to the basketball tourney as a bubble team more often than probability would suggest. The fanbase carries weight.
