Earning first offer from Syracuse:
“Syracuse is a great program with great history, so it definitely feels good to get a school like that as my first offer.”
Recruitment Notes:
Syracuse was the first to offer Smith after attending their elite camp, as he showcased enough to impress the coaches. And even though he is part of the Class of 2028, other schools have been showing similar interests early on as well. When talking to Smith, he mentioned that Oklahoma, Marquette, Villanova, and others expressed interest early on.
An interesting note to watch for down the road; his father is Larry Smith, who was a walk-on at North Carolina with Hubert Davis. And when speaking with Smith a bit more, we did ask if he had a dream school, in which he responded with UNC. Right now, UNC has not expressed interest but always something to keep an eye on.
