Class of 2024 CG Jeremiah Wilkinson (GA) Portal from UGA

Jeremiah Wilkinson is a lefty 6’1 combo guard from Powder Springs, GA. He played high school at Campbell (Fr), Hillgrove (So), and finished at The Skill Factory (Jr/Sr) in Atlanta. Then he played his college freshmen season at Cal and was named the ACC’s Sixth Man of the Year and to the ACC All-Rookie team after leading Cal offensively and scoring 17.0 points per game in 20 league outings. He finished as the Bears’ second-leading scorer at 15.1 points while also contributing 1.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 0.8 steals in 27.4 minutes of playing time per contest. JW transferred to UGA for this past season where he started 21 games of the first 23 games of the season before coming off the bench for the campaign’s final eight outings after returning from his shoulder setback. He averaged a team-high 17.4 points per game, including 10 20-point outbursts and a trio of 30-point performances. JW was also among SEC leaders, ranked No. 9 in scoring (17.4 ppg), No. 7 in 3-pointers per game (2.6 3FGs), No. 8 in 3-point percentage (.357) and No. 8 in steals (1.6 spg). As we know SU is after a legit PG in the portal. While Jeremiah is more of a combo guard, he still has been linked to SU as guard priority and also that his agent is Michael Carter Williams.

I’d love to pull this one out of the hat. Kid has a real edge and both can really score and has a great handle not to mention is a pest at times on defense. Really solid athlete and strong despite being only 6-1.

His agent is Michael Carter-Williams. I spoke with MCW earlier in the week. He told me Wilkinson is not going to Syracuse. Wilkinson is a crazy-good scorer who is going to get paid this cycle.

Donna insinuating the reason why Syracuse won’t get into a bidding war for someone like Wilkinson. Probably just repeating what MCW is saying. But I really think the GMAC strategy is clear and that is to build the most balanced roster possible and raise the floor. You prove something with a balanced roster then you will start to get the top flashy transfers that money isn’t the sole factor in there decision, those who prioritize having there suitors meeting them in the ballpark and then choosing the place setting them best up for future success and where they can be apart of winning.

I don't know what being "paid " means. It's relative. That said if Syracuse has ~$12m plus, providing one player even $3m to $4m should be possible and easily budget the remainder. So I am curious again what "paid" means.
Now if Syracuse doesn't want to go for an elite level talent and prefers to spread more Nil within min/max hoping to have more average to above average assets on the team, then that is a strategy decision.

So I only watched highlights of him but a number of GA fans and a work colleague in Atlanta who is a Georgia fan that are not heartbroken over it. He is a very - get mine first second and third type of player and that Georgia wasn’t going to pay up for a kid more focused on himself than the team.

His mentality fits the other programs he was looking at especially LSU more than what I expect Gerry wants.

Still a bummer as this kid is really talented and I would hope could be handled by the right coach…

Wilkerson is not a PG. I think he has 45 assists all season for Georgia. Was never a fit here.
