The regular season concluded this weekend, with Robert Morris winning its second-consecutive regular season crown. All of the matchups are set for the CHA Tournament which will be held later this week, March 1-3, at the HarborCenter in Buffalo, New York.

Penn State vs. Lindenwood – Scores: 0-1, 6-0

Penn State (9-14-11; 6-7-7 CHA) and Lindenwood (10-19-1; 8-12-0 CHA) split their regular season finale and will face each other again this Thursday in the first round of the CHA Tournament. As it was already known that they would play each other in the first round entering this series, the results didn’t carry much weight. What it did provide was a great scouting opportunity for both sides. Lindenwood took game 1 behind a 43-save performance from their excellent goaltender, Jolene deBruyn. They were outshot 43-12 yet still came away with the victory. Penn State converted their chances Saturday against backup goaltender Lauren Hennessey, once again far outshooting their opponents 42-15. Natalie Heising tallied a hat trick and set a program record for goals in a season by a freshman. Penn State enters the tournament as the fourth seed and will face fifth-seeded Lindenwood Thursday.

RIT vs. Mercyhurst – Scores: 0-3, 0-3

Mercyhurst (16-14-4; 13-4-3 CHA) beat RIT (4-27-3; 1-19-0 CHA) by consecutive 3-0 tallies but still narrowly missed out on the regular season title to Robert Morris. Kennedy Blair made a combined 41 saves in two shutout performances to bring her season total to five clean sheets. By scoring her 14th goal Friday, Olympian Vilma Tanskanen finishes the regular season as the Lakers’ goal-scoring leader. Mercyhurst will be the second seed in the CHA tournament and will have a first-round bye. They will face the highest-seeded team remaining after the first round is played. RIT finishes 1-19 in CHA play and, as the sixth seed, will face #3 Syracuse in the first round.

Syracuse vs. #9 Robert Morris – Scores: 0-5, 0-4

Robert Morris (20-7-4; 14-3-3 CHA) clinched their second-consecutive CHA regular season title emphatically with a sweep of Syracuse (12-20-2; 11-8-1 CHA), outscoring the Orange 9-0. Elijah Milne-Price made a combined 51 saves and picked up two shutouts; her total of six on the season is the most in program history. Lexi Templeman scored two goals Friday while Brittany Howard and Amber Rennie each had a goal in both games. The Colonials will attempt to defend its CHA Tournament title as the top seed. They will face the lowest-seeded team remaining in the semi-final round this Friday in Buffalo. Syracuse enters as the third seed and will face sixth-seeded RIT in the Quarterfinals Thursday. If victorious, they will have to face Mercyhurst Friday in the semi-finals.
