I will give you the top 5 or maybe 10 in no particular order after the first few. After that it's a crap shoot.

Was not highly recruited. Reason being he broke his ankle summer before senior yr and missed the summer AAU circuit. I dont know what other schools went after him but bonaventure recruited him the hardest. Acutally the first time their assistants saw him was at an open shootaround at his high school gym. The kid decided to goto Bonas to help turnaround the program and at the time they were opening a new science center. Its a really interesting and intriguing story about that kid and the school's basketball team in general. He will go down as the second best player in their history behind Lanier.

Another wrinkle to the story, is that in the week or two leading up to his commitment he stepped on his cell phone and broke it. He ended up having voicemails from coaches that he never listened to before committing to Bonas.

I have my own theory on Nicholson as a player/person. People say he is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. On top of that, he is incredibly smart. However, to see him during a game you wouldnt think any of this. He's very hot headed on calls, and has thrown a few cheap shots (see Rautins in 12/09 and this year against Niagara kicked a player while both were getting up from a jump ball.) I honestly dont think the kid fits in his own skin. He's basically, for lack of a better term, a huge dork stuck in an athlete's body that is heading to the first round of the NBA draft. He wanted to play baseball growing up, and the game of basketball is still new to him. I just dont think this chemist knows how to act while being the focal point of an A10 team.

I remember that rautins "cheap shot". I still think Rautins faked and/or embellished the whole thing. Nothing wrong with having a mean streak on the court.

On a side note- Nicholson could teach Fab Melo a thing or two on how to be a student athlete.

The whole "everyone says he's a really great person but he gets hotheaded during games and comes off as a punk" thing reminds me of Ndamukong Suh, who everyone swears up and down is one of the best people you will ever meet, but you'd never know it if you only based that off of his on field actions.

The biggest thing about Nicholson, as many have pointed out in terms of what will make teams wary, is his crippling fear of flying. How the hell is he going to play for, in this instance, Philadelphia, and go to Golden State for an away game?

I can definitely see this, because, this is partly true with me. (Most) people consider me a very nice, easy-going dude. When I play(ed) basketball, whether pickup or for my school team, I completely changed character and could turn into the meanest guy on the court. If someone shoved me on one play I was coming back shoving them, never backing down from anyone. Granted Suh is 100 pounds heavier than me, I like to consider us in the same boat

really? I can't get the games where he's had no or 1 rebounds, or only knocked home a couple of FGs, out of my head.

Andre Drummond comparison - YES

Anthony Davis comparison- Definitely NO

Its quite clear Anthony Davis is the best player in college basketball. Hes a 7 footer who has the handle and shooting ability of a gaurd. Hes a poor man's Durant.
 
He's a poor man's Kevin, but you've got it wrong by picking Durant. Durant is an amazing shooter.

Davis is so much more like Kevin Garnett than Kevin Durant it's ridiculous.

Definitely agree with you that Davis is the best player in college bball right now. I'm just not sold on him being the NBA all-star so many are claiming. How many 6'10-7'0 250 lb forwards/centers did he play against?

how many did any guy who went straight from high school?

but he played against Pat Young 3 times, Ezeli 3 times, Sidney from Miss St?, UNC guys, Thomas Robinson, Royce White want me to keep going, actually I think that is it

Just saying there are guys in the NBA who are as strong as Young but 2-3 inches taller, as tall as Ezeli but more athletic, and as versatile as White but... well... much better.

When he hasn't knocked down any shots, he's generally gotten to the free throw line from what I remember. And the only two that are really worth discussing as far as being our best player this year is KJo and Waiters and Waiters basically took half the season off lol
