I think there’s a lot of luck involved. For example, SU football got lucky this year in terms of no games cancelled whereas the basketball team hasn’t been so fortunate.

The Big Ten started there season at the end of October with an 8 game schedule. It had nothing to do with losing games to Covid. They played an abbreviated schedule and are in the championship game. Not equal

If SU played 6 games and made it to the Championship I'm sure somebody on the telecast would have mentioned how SU didn't face the same roadblocks "this Alabama team did this year".
