Ha. Well it looks like he’s played pretty damn good the past 5 games. Averaging 21 pts, 57% FG%, 8 assists, 4.2 REB and 2 steals.
That’s a lot of assists for a SG/SF. Terrible 3 point shooter though.

Might have been very different for Coach Autry if this version of Westry had occurred during his first year with us (23-24) and if JJ had recovered from his shoulder injury and recovered the jumpshot that made him a high school star. Wouldn’t have rectified some of his coaching weakness/inadequacies, but you can imagine a world in which those guys along with Maliq stay and grow. Oh well, hopefully on to better things for us in the very near future.

He was a GMAC recruit and Mac was there s first year at Syracuse. Problem was Chance was recovering from a medical problem (knees?).

Would be surprised (but not disappointed) if he returned.

This is my take. We were told by people close to the program that he was legitimately going through some major life stuff. Looks like he was able to fight through it and have a good season at UAB.

What is a bargain these days with the purported estimates for top 20 transfers in the $2-4-7 million range?

Would a bargain be $500K-600K for a player who scored 15.5ppg and had a number of assists last year?

The problem comes when a good player like Nait George (supposedly was) does not fit into the new coach’s offensive strategy. The school wasted the money it invested and is stuck with the player who does not fit the program. In addition, the school (like Syracuse) usually does not have an alternative player to go with when the expensive transfer fails to fit.

He had a really good season at UAB, where Yaxel played two years ago. His weakness is outside shooting, and as others have said he’s an injury risk.

If he wants to be a part of the rotation for a program trying to win vs being featured at a P4 and is ok not demanding a bunch of money I’m fine with that as that’s a role I would have looked at the Dual kid for anyways. As for the starting PG spot it’s a big no.

He’s not going anywhere to come off the bench. He had issues at SU. I can’t imagine SU bringing him back.
