Chandler Jones - Am I the only one...

I agree that I am surprised that he was taken in the first round because he doesn't have a large body of work. And that he flew up because of his potential. But the kid was a force all year long last year and those who didn't notice that missed out. I don't think he showed 1st rounder impact but certainly late 2nd, early 3rd. His potential and measurables bumped him up to where he was picked.

Chandler Jones won the "Underwear Olympics"

Put him in his underwear, watch him run, jump, hit tackling dummy's, measure his arms, hand size and he grades out as a 1st round pick. THAT's why he went so early. When you pop in the tape and actually watch him play you see nothing that would make you think he is a first round pick.

There is a reason why Belichick has had so many draft busts in recent years, and I think we know why. Since Pioli left NE they haven't had a good draft in years. Aside from the 2 tight ends they have missed on a lot!

He was moving up the boards before the combine/pro-day. His combine numbers were actually somewhat underwhelming.

he was outrun by an oline dude during one if the biggest games SU had when he got the INT late in the season. he dominated plays, but he also did nothing for large stretches and its hard to say thats all by design. i am still shocked he went that high, but i hope he has a nice career

For sake, he was running with a torn meniscus and a severely sprained knee. If I hear this one more time I'm going to send your personal information to Lou Gachelin.

That's another thing...will Jones be able to stay healthy? It was one nagging injury after another during his career, all of which were used as excuses for why he rarely made an impact at Syracuse. I'm very skeptical that he can remain fully healthy for an entire 16 game NFL season.

From a guy who has torn a meniscus twice, unless you have surgery or rest for like 4 months ( small tear) you really can't run, knee clicks like hell and you just hope it doesn't catch because then the knee locks up... I don't know if Chandler had surgery, he may have, they tell you 7-8 weeks and you can run again, that means light jogging, not sprinting. In addition, a guy C Jones' size and height, makes revovery even more difficult, probably took from December until March to get back to 100%, if that is even possible really

I don't think watching him during a game would give anyone a good read. Probably because he was often doubled, because we had little overall talent on the line other than Chan...that's why those workouts are so important. I think he has some impressive measurables, especially his 36" arms. He was injured, too...we didn't see the best from him this year

I agree and how often did we force teams to pass against us? When you can't really stop the run teams don't have to pass very often so how could Chandler show his pass rushing ability? The times he was able to show it was when teams had to pass and he could really tee off. Just like NFL pass rushers when they know a team has to pass they can be deadly. If the Patriots can force teams to pass (which based on their defense last year who knows) I think Chandler can be a great asset.
