Chandler Jones Traded to Arizona

Would imagine Chandler is about to get a new deal. I think he's up after next year.

Finally I can root for the guy again. After seeing what pass rushing DE's have been getting paid lately, I think the Pats decided to cut ties now and get something in return instead of losing him in free agency because they weren't going to pay that much.

This is all drippy with Belichick, for sure.

Collins, Hightower, Butler all would become free agents around the same time as Jones I believe. That's the achilles heel of drafting your defensive players very well for a few years in a row. Don't know a ton about Cooper other than the fact that he was a top-10 pick, but the Patriots needed picks after losing their 2016 first to the NFL. Jones can be inconsistent but when he's on, he's a real difference-maker, I'll miss him.

I wonder what this does for Dwight Freeney. Not sure if the Cardinals would look to resign him after picking up Chandler.

Chandler is an elite pass rusher. He had 1 year left on his contract, needs to improve at run defense.. He will get major money and the Pats are going to spend their money resigning Dont'a Hightower, Jamie Collins, and Malcolm Butler.

Good trade for both sides. Thanks to Giants signing JPP the Pats got the 2nd round pick. This deal was rumored for a while and was contingent on the Cards stirking out in FA and the Pats have Chandler's replacement lined up. Chris Long will likely become a Patriot.

Kaiser told me the Pats would get a 5th rounder for Chandler.

So if anyone knows Chandler personally, I would like to represent him as his real estate agent here. If he buys a home, I donate 10% of my commission back to SU athletics. I am very good at what I do. My customer always comes first. I am extremely professional, ethical, and I make sure my deals close with virtually no drama. I follow every aspect of the transaction through and past closing. I work a lot of areas of the metro Phoenix area, and have 2 agents that I also work with as part of a semi team. I can guarantee he will not find a better person to represent him.

Ok, that is my sales pitch of the day. Oh and I recently bought football season tickets to support the program even though I will not get to any games from AZ!!!!

Thank you.

Word is...

1) Showing up at a police station high on drugs before a playoff game wrote his ticket out of town
2) When Olivier Vernon got $85 million and $52 million guaranteed (an insane and horrible contract) any chance of NE keeping Chandler knowing he will want equal or better money (and he can't be trusted cause of the drug issue) they were begging for someone to take him.

cards got fleeced.

belichick is a genius.

For a change, this Bills fan will only have to root against you once this year. Best of luck in the other 15.

Kraft could always just pay them under the table like he does Brady.

I would have been mad if Chan was an elite pass rusher. He's very good, but not elite. Jabaal Sheard can replace him easily. Chan struggled against the better O-Line he faced, and always tended to get worn down as the season went on.

Plus, Hightower, Butler, and Collins are WAY more important to the defense than he is.

It's just like the Richard Seymour trade except the Pats got back a legitimate OL piece they've wanted since 2013 in Jonathan Cooper.

So, Bills fans, just for comparison sake...would John Miller plus a second rounder to NE for Chandler have made any sense?

Jabaal Shered can replace Chandler.
He will give 80% of the production and is a slightly better run defender.

The money it would have cost to keep Chandler wasn't there in NE and they got assets for him.

Pats now have 17 million dollars in cap space for next year.

I believe Chandler's brother trains in Arizona. Having those 2 around each other could be trouble

I'm just fascinated by seemingly every Patriot fanboy's inherent need to boast about every little move the Patriots make. It's strange. The arrogance is nauseating. Did anyone in this thread claim the Patriots are going to fall off after trading their defensive end? Is Brady still playing? Check. Ok...then no. "Methinks the Brady lady doth protest too much."

Only if Chandler wasn't in the last year of a contract and the Bills had plenty of room under the salary cap. As it is, they've got to sign Gilmore, find a contract that works for Glenn, and if Taylor has a good year they will have to spend to the cap. So IMO, no it wouldn't work.
