What a let down. I thought you were going to claim that something TURNED THE CORNER.
Well, they will still need someone to beat up on.Glad they stepped away from breaking away or creating the Division 4. The "jury of your peers" comment is interesting and seems fair. But at what point do Ohio State, FSU and Alabama decide that Syracuse, Purdue and Washington State are no longer their peers? I can't imagine that will happen because then you're basically cutting the Power 5 in half and that would hopefully upset a lot of people.
In a way, this is how they are doing just that. Policing themselves, setting their own rules, without having to recreate the entire infrastructure. How long will it be until the Big 5 conferences band together and tell the NCAA to pound sand? Just asking.
I'd rather the NCAA gets told to kick rocks, but that's just me.How long will it be until the Big 5 conferences band together and tell the NCAA to pound sand? Just asking.
I still don't get it. "Take better care of student-athletes." What the hell does that mean, apart from paying them? I'd say make them go to class and actually be able to pass tests and write research papers by themselves.
The bigger schools would simply play amongst themselves. What kind of TV audience would there be for Wyoming vs New Mexico?if the smaller schools were smart they would band together and demand much higher paydays...like set a minimum of two million per game. it would force the sec and big ten to schedule real teams
