Chris McCullough dismissed from Brewster

114.gif

A school whose main function is to be a basketball factory just dismissed their best basketball player.

Without knowing any details, its safe to assume what he did was pretty bad and there is a decent chance he never makes it here.
Brewster's main function is not a "basketball factory". I have a number of friends who attended and none played basketball.

Kids get dismissed from prep school all the time. I'm not worrying about it at this point.

I bet Matt Damon framed him for cheating after he took his starting spot, and also because he doesn't like McCullough because he's Jewish.

That's what happens at New England prep schools in most cases, from what I understand.

the problem is not that he got kicked off the basketball team. It's that he will now be a whole semester of credits short of the NCAA clearinghouse's requirements. That is, unless he takes summer courses, which would leave us waiting for NCAA approval next fall ala Tyler Roberson.

But will he be, though? Remember, he tried to reclassify to join the class of 2013, which leads me to believe he may have more than enough credits to be able to take this hit.

I hope you're right.

Exceptional post.

Exactly. Without knowing the specifics of the school rule violation, SU/fans needs to be concerned about credit hours and eligibility going forward.

Firstly - I hope this is nothing more than a bump in the road for Chris. I hope he sends in his LOI and that he has eligibility for next fall at the Cuse and becomes a star here. I hate to see young men do foolish things that adversely affects their lives when they have so much potential opportunity in front of them.

Secondly - As a fan I refuse to continue to get emotionally involved in the annual crisis of the season. As stated above, I wish the best to Chris in the way it plays out, but regretfully, if it does not play out for the best he will only have himself to blame.

I simply cannot let the goings on in the lives of high school basketball players affect me other than that I am pleased when one of them wants to come to the Cuse and I wish them the best success. I will no longer worry about negative things that should not have occurred in the first place.

Do you actually have to be officially enrolled somewhere to be able to submit a LOI?

I'm sure he can find some school to go to and finish up. But you know what part 2 of this will be. Next March, right before the NCAA tournament, the NCAA will decide to question if he took the right courses to graduate, and we will lose him for the tournament. ...
personally, I will be holding my breath for both he and Roberson for as long as they are matriculated

Not bad, dude's car got a little dinged up.
I believe that there is an appropriate quote from the Big Lebowski for nearly every situation

Sooooo, anyone with good understanding of this type of situation know what his options could be if he is unable to get into another school?

Based on the Goodman article, it seems that Chris is still going to sign his LOI this week. Also states he is going to try to find another school quickly. Hopefully the Cuse can help.

He will find another school. I believe a public school would be required to take him where he lives. From my preppy days up the road at New Hampton, dismissal usually was from pot smoking, even smoking a cigarette in the dorm, drinking. All the things high school kids do, but prep schools can kick them out for it.
As far as the Lord and Taylor incident, I think that worked out pretty well for MCW. Sometimes kids just need a little wake up call. That whole thing was handled properly in giving him the scare, teaching him the lesson and giving him the chance to move forward in life. I think we can stop visiting that every time some other problem comes up here.

Cant imagine he would be able to get into another top prep playing against the quality teams Brewster plays, but im the "no clue club" how these type of things work out.

Be nice if he could get into Oak Hill but that is probably a huge stretch at this point.
