Who should get more minutes at the 5? Because we seemed to do way better with Christmas in the game than Baye.

Rak needs to stay at the 4 at this point. Zone was lost early on because people were playing out of position at the back of it.

Christmas. But, that is only because he actually has hands. As opposed to Keita who has bricks.

Yeah Keita's been somewhat disappointing so far this year, especially after a better than anticipated freshman campaign. Not only are his hands bad, but he repeatedly leaves his feet...creating foolish fouls or having his guy go by him as a result. Bilas commented on this Monday night during the Pitt game...

I loved Keita last year (and his hands sucked then too), but seeing him on the court now is just painful. Xmas to me has the better upside, and right now I think he offers a bit more.

Keita has regressed badly. Last year he blocked shots, rebounded and gave a great energy boost off the bench. This year he seems lost out there.
Xmas just isn't quite ready yet.
We are a donught team without Fab.

I don't want to pile on Keita, but I agree with this. Last year, even though he wasn't an offensive threat he made things happen as a defender / rebounder. He seemed like his Oak Hill experience [playing on a national caliber team, with travel, pressure on the road, etc.] had prepared him well to be an instant college contributor. He was a big factor in the uconn road win last year, for example.

This year, he doesn't seem to make the same contributions, and isn't the same presence on the glass--at least thus far.

He wasn't the reason we lost today--total team sorry effort. Sad part is, if we make a few shots here and there, we come all the way back from that deficit. ND gave us plenty of chances, it just wasn't our night.

What has shown you they are better? Same as they have been since he got here.
I know they are bad but I was really expecting him to come into this season with a healthy hand and catch the ball better. I was sorely mistaken.

Baye could definitely use some of that "stickum" Lester Hayes used to use before the NFL banned it.

Does anybody have any idea what happened to the guy? Going into the season I thought he'd see the floor a lot and be our best rebounder. Now though he just looks like a spaz.

Along with Scoop's new found inability to hit a free throw, Baye's play has been among the few head scratchers this season.

It was a strange game in that regard. We couldn't stop shooting ourselves in the foot.

We get it down 8 and Dion dribbles it off his foot on the baseline.

Dip calls that phantom foul on Scoop on that break (after he dribbles off his foot).

Lots of plays like that where we had a chance to close the gap and something happened.

No question--Notre Dame gave us every opportunity [and then some] to seize victory from the jaws of defeat, we just couldn't hit any shots.

Even if we'd just made an extra shot or two any time throughout the game, the last few minutes might have probably unfolded differently. Too bad--we picked the wrong day for a systemic team offensive breakdown.

I've got to take Christmas on this one.

It's no good to be one of those "X player stinks" fans, but there's not a lot positive to say about Baye right now. He just can't get it done.

A couple games ago, someone posted that Baye's hands were bad but not nearly as bad as, say Mookie Watkins or Roberts. Their hands were awful, but even they managed to grab rebounds with consistency.

Baye can't do that. And for the second consecutive game, he's turned over a routine post pass. There's little indication that he's a particularly capable screener, passer, or even decoy. Without exaggeration, we're playing 4-on-5 in our half-court offense with him on the floor.

Baye sprints up the floor faster than any center we've had, so I'll give him that. And I feel bad for the poor guy. But he can't play big minutes for a Final Four contender at this point in time.

As with everything this weekend, the blame lies with Fab.
