Civilization is finally coming to Connecticut...

predictions on how many pages this thread goes? I think 5 is the ceiling, 2 is the floor.

ive also found myself going to specialty stores like Lombardis. Vinces, etc for certain items.

We are a wegmans family going back. I worked there, my sister, my brother works for their corporate offices. It has gone downhill with all of the Wegmans brand stuff. I never realized it until you go to a store like Green Hills and they have stuff I completely forgot about that Wegmans doesnt even carry. The meat is meh, seafood is so-so. Prepared foods are way overpriced. Subs suck. Its still better that most stores especially when you are comparing it to places like Food Lion but its not what it once was for sure.
You watch your mouth when talking about a Wegmans sub, Marsh. You watch your damn mouth.

agreed . but they seem to be pushing out the name brands to sell their own stuff.
more and more i'm amazed to find what you can't find there.
Some "Wegmans" products are actually produced by the national companies and sold under a license by Wegmans. But not always. This is why consumers want to be able to choose for themselves. At the local store we shop at, employees are quite friendly, and those in the specialty sections (butcher, cheese, beer, etc) are competent and helpful. The problem IMO is with greedy managers for whom the customer is third or fourth on the list.

Wegman’s is grossly over rated and over priced. Many, many much better stores can be found throughout the country .

Responding to your Hal Cohen, Marty Head sub title, Eric Santifer needs to play!
just love everything about that era, throw in Red Bruin, Danny Schayes, Eddie Moss, Louie and Bouie, Leo, nothing will ever replace it as my favorite era, maybe because I was a young kid at the time.

There’s a Wegmans near me in PA; I went there shortly after I moved here three years ago. I was wildly disappointed at how far downhill they’ve gone in the last 15 years. They’ve coasted on a brand reputation for a long time that they no longer deserve.

The one positive is every store appears to be equally mediocre - so their quality control to maintain the same mediocrity everywhere differentiates them from other chains. They’re the Budweiser of supermarkets - lots of better options, but when you go there you know what you’re getting.

Was too eager to post the same thing. I agree

Wegmans has my wife brainwashed but I just keep my mouth shut fear of getting told ”you do the shopping then”.

Whenever I walk into a Tops or Price Chopper I get a whiff of spoiled meat. That never happens at Wegmans.

And that’s exactly why my wife keeps shopping at Wegmans. She calls it the smell test. Smells like fish when you walk in price chopper

It's funny how shopping morphs. I used to be only Wegmans. They then pushed certain brands out that I would shop for and all I did was split my shopping up. I will get meats, fruits, produce and milk at Wegmans. Also will get Byrne Milk. The rest my ol lady snags at a Walmart which has the lowest cost "brand versions " of all the other stuff. Wegmans meats are very good quality. The prepared foods at Wegmans are no longer a value prop. Say what you want about Walmart but they have the brands you want at much lower prices. Think pasta, cereals, condiments, dressings, yada, yada, yada. (Our experience).
