Civilization is finally coming to Connecticut...

IMO most "Wegmans" store brand products are as good or better than the higher priced name brands, which is rarely the case at other chains.

They are generally good quality, I agree. But one area they fall far short is their Asian sauces. They replaced Iron Chef and a couple other well-known brands, and their stuff is really inferior. You look at stuff like their Thai Peanut sauce or their Sweet Chili Sauce, and the color just isn't right..

hit fayetteville monday am on way home . when i'm shopping i like to browse about. take my time. see what stuff i can't find locally. but seems like whenever i'm in WeGMAN;S the OLDSTERS ( hey i'm 65) with their shopping carts are on a search and destroy mission.
zero courtesy. basically run you over. like they got 3 hours left to live . bump or push me again. well maybe baby . and here's a CLUE. murder weapon ? frozen goose. location ? aisle 7 . culprit ? tbonezone. ( i did buy a frozen goose . don't see them locally . got friends coming next weekend . never cooked one before . i know they're greasy . any tips appreciated. )

got it. people always say don't be a preek . but when cooking goose or duck... be a preek .

when i worked in rochester way back in the 80's i used to buy a salad dressing mix called MR GOURMET. i'd buy like 10 packets cuz it was so good. now sadly it's gone.
i did buy some Wegmans Papparadelle. but i'm not sure who makes the pasta.

Wegmans $2 boxes of cereal ALL DAY LONG !!

Wegmans stinks. Their meat is absolutely terrible. Fresh juice is $7 for a 12 oz. 98 percent of the store is now “wegmans brand” which is terrible. And more importantly they do NOTHING for the community. You can tell how much I love it lol

Wegmans is fine. Their flagship stores are better stocked than the regular ones. There are features in Fayetteville that you aren’t going to find on Rt 31 or John Glenn.

I’ll go to Vince’s or Spera’s, or Nichols occasionally. At the last two there will be moments of, oh I remember that. Tops and Aldi, meh.

Publix is very good, but I’ll go to Doris Italian if I’m spending extended time in South Florida
I would also say that geography matters. I spent a few months up in Manlius in the Fall of 2023 so went to Wegmans quite a bit. We have one in Northern Jersey that, in my opinion, is better than the one in Fayetteville.

Great cheese section, very good deli (I can get Prosciutto di Parma, Prosciutto San Daniele, Serrano and Iberico de Bellota as examples - I suspect that you cannot get this in Fayetteville).

No high end pasta, no high-end pomodori pelati, fruits and vegetables are mediocre (but that is true across most, if not all, grocery stores). Won't buy fish or meat there either.

But that is also function of geography, IMHO. Much better fish, meat and fruits and veggie specialty stores down here with much better quality.
