Rebound off a miss tied in the 2nd half for a putback. Big basket. Then up 58-56 he drives and get and and one going up 61-56. This kid is a gamer and I am so glad he is wearing Orange. I cant even fathom how great he will be in 2 years.

Agree.

We were in a scoring slump in the second half and CJ hit a two point jumper, missed a three the next possesion, and then hit that layup and one plus the foul shot the third possession.

Those 5 points were the 5 point lead we had at the time. Our stars were cold and he stepped up.
Love to see CJ score a bucket off a jumper then hit one off a isolation dribble. Huge!

CJ was big, but his rebounding has been off the last three games or so.

We need that more than anything else he brings to the table. I also wish Fab would concentrate as much on rebounding as he does on taking charges. He'd be a true beast if he did.

Cheers,
Neil

The offensive rebound for the putback was his first rebound of the game, and certainly our most important rebound.

I like CJ's game quite a bit. Not sure I see him becoming any kind of great basketball player, but the Moten comparison is still complimentary and apt - he's a smart one.

I couldn't agree more Marsh. CJ played really well tonight in my opinion and came up huge in that early second half stretch there. He's a solid, smart, all-around good basketball player. His effort is awesome too. Having CJ for the rest of this year, and the following two years (unless something happens) is going to be quite the treat.

We have some VERY special players.
CJ just leaves me feeling warm & fuzzy whenever he touches the ball.
Its like a calming effect- you just know something good is gonna happen.

after his last 2 games and the first half tonight I was getting frustrated and confused as to what happened to him, but he really stepped up and made some huge plays in the second half

In the first half Southerland was huge, keying our run with some good D and great shooting. In the second half he got cold and Fair came in and played huge. That is what I call a team with a lot of answers.

We had a stretch where our rebounding was horrible. Nobody was boxing out.

I've also never seen so many almost steals on cross passes across the top of the zone. KJo almost had two, CJ one, and Triche one.

Fair hasn't ever rebounded well for us. Like half our team, he only gets offensive rebounds. I don't know if it is effort/training/scheme/talent that causes effective defensive rebounding, but our kids don't have it. Talent and effort are out. Scheme and training are the problems that cause us to fail to win our own defensive boards.

However, those same schemes and training allow us to win the offensive boards year after year. CJ Fair gets yelled at every day for failing to retrieve his share of defensive boards. YET, he still stays on the court when he slips in and gets a couple of those o boards.

If they shoot worse, and turn over more, we win. JB has this as an absolute choice. He wants our big kids to kill the other guy to get a rebound, and lets them know... However, every time a shot goes up, our guards are running to the other court to get their layups. Wisconsin (and such schools) win every rebounding battle... They do nothing but rebound, not even score. JB would rather get offfensive rebounds, runouts, steals, and limit shooting % than act like the rebounds are all that matter.
