Clemson BOT to meet tomorrow regarding realignment

I think it's great. Peel off the band-aid one way or another. Decide what you're doing and let the ACC move on from there.

If Swofford has anything to say, then this afternoon/evening would be a good time to get it out.

Clemson did same a year ago. I believe we are taking a lot out of context and looking at micro views. If the NC comes down to champions playing, then the ACC is a good place for these teams to be because an easier road than the Big 12 or SEC...be just a bit more patient...although some thoughts on this board are exceedingly bright and good.

Understatement of the year, I hope hes got something up his sleeve.

It's a bit sad that a team like Clemson, which hasn't won a freaking thing in forever, has clout in this process. Being decent in football, and then getting killed in your bowl game gets you into a better league? um this stuff is just ridiculous. At least FSU used to be dominant! Clemson stinks in every other sport and has had a few decent years. McNabb still lit them up 41-0 in 1996! :)

Here is something interesting to look at that really makes you question at least Clemson:

1991 - 2011

1-6 vs the BE! I just started a thread to vent on the absurdity of them being such a powerhouse. You have proven my abstract venting with stats. I appreciate it!

Kind of like our fans bringing up our history as a reason we won't get left out. History means very little right now. It is all about what have you done for me lately and how much extra cash will you earn the league.

doesn't sound bad to me. sounds like they're going to discuss all the rumors and get everyone on the same page, quell fears and put out the fire.

there's just no way a school smack dab in the middle of south carolina, in a major conference, is going to take their sports to oklahoma. ain't gonna happen.

That could be or they could authorize the school president to explore realignment options ala Mizz and Texas A&M. Clemsons location means nothing who thought a school in the middle of Texas would take there sports to Tennesse. All bets are off.

Clemson is a player in this mainly because of their disgruntlement with the ACC and especially Swofford and UNC. If the rumors are true, they would be the logical "backdoor" target to get the ball rolling.

Cheers,
Neil

What school did that?

I just think everybody's is caught up in the scare frenzy, like the swine flu pandemic. Armegeddon we should start stocking up on food and buying gold coins.

Nothing wrong with schools exploring options but a school like Clemson will find out it's going to be expensive to move all sports to the great plains.

As for Mizzou and A&M I get it but they were wearing their desires to leave on their sleave for a long time. Might as well throw in Colorado and Nebraska to but nobody really knew they wanted out. They didn't like the power or money distribution that Texas had. TLH network had a lot to do about it - that doesn't change for these new schools. A&M, Colorado and Nebraska have as much football tradition as anybody. But they got out the big 12 and now FSU and Clemson and Miami and GT are allegedly trying to get in? I don't buy it and think that some southern hot heads are just spouting off and creating a frenzy but cooler heads will prevail - the baptists will pray and god will show them the way.

One thing to consider about Clemson - they have a lot of grads in Atlanta and Charlotte/research triangle. I would imagine those graduates would be upset that they are trading away games that they can drive to for games where you can't even fly to. Ames? Lubbick? Waco? Manhattan, KS?

And just from our experience - this board, comprising hardcore SU internet fans, was ecstatic over the ACC move. This was near universal except for a few basketball first/only fans who didn't like it. Compare that to the casual SU fans/alumni who do not live and breath expansion. On SU's facebook page it was pretty close to the opposite. Alumni were largely decrying the move and the fact that we were throwing away our rivals. Even Syracuse.com was far more mixed. FSU I don't think will matter as much because they will always have their Miami/UF games to provide games close by.

Most of their disgruntlement is due to the fact that they haven't beaten UNC at Chapel Hill since 1926 in hoops. :rolling:

Texas A&M had a history with Arkansas and LSU. Both LSU and U of Arkansas are located in states continguous to Texas.

You can't say either about Clemson and the Big 12 schools.

I don't smell smoke and don't expect to see a fire. I DO smell BS.

Well, most of them graduates are female. :)

Seemingly, there are more USC, UNC, NC State, VT alums in Charlotte than there are Clemson. And, even less in the research triangle area which consists of Durham, Raleigh & Chapel Hill.

Clemson is a player in this entirely because FSU desires them as a travel companion. I doubt the Big XII has any interest in them without FSU in the deal.

clemson has no clout or history---they would be taken if anything as a loser--over rated-----great fan base and game day stuff though

The same is true for FSU.

If Clemson goes I'll be bummed... mainly due to selfish reasons as I'll be denied 2-hour trips to see the Orangemen and -women on a regular basis (both football and basketball).

I just read the release. I don't take it as a bad thing. Clemson realizes that this rumor mill needs to be controlled as it's very quickly spinning out of control. He also doesn't want any FSU BOT Chair things happening either most likely. In the end I don't think they are leaving but obviously want the best for Clemson just like we want the best for Syracuse.
