Clemson Game Time Set for...Sunday Announcement

Maryland-Florida State and Georgia Tech-Miami on Oct 5 are also six-day options.

This is one of those not so small things that could impact attendance. People who may jump aboard this week may now be forced to sit and wait because they are not sure about their schedule...by the time the announcement comes who knows about hotels and/or alternate plans that have arisen. Not a huge factor, but probably will affect at least a few people this week.

It means Miami is playing South Florida this week and even though they should win before ESPN decides to put Georgia Tech-Miami in Primetime on ABC or on ESPN possibly they want to make sure Miami takes care of business against a bad 0-3 South Florida team. Florida State plays @Boston College this weekend and Clemson hosts Wake Forest both of them have to win as well, but we are staring right at ESPN 12pm or at best 3:30ESPNU.

I'm not sure if this makes it more likely or less likely we get a noon kickoff...

Well if Miami stumbles this saturday to USF, they are out of Top 25, and that matchup loses its luster. Maryland has a bye, FSU vs BC, Alabama plays Ole Miss, Oregon Plays Cal. ESPN probably wants to see how the weekend shakes out.

Bleh...

Georgia Tech also hosts Virginia Tech this Thursday Night on ESPN and if the Jackets win the Georgia Tech-Miami matchup will be a battle of top 20 teams, and Wisconsin pulled off the upset this week in Columbus which I doubt but if they did possibly College Gameday would go to Miami for Tech-Miami over Ohio State-Northwestern.

Assuming those teams take care of business - given various game availability / regional-national coverage / any take on thought process on ESPN's part as far as an ESPN nooner vs. ESPNU at 3:30? Are there certain teams we should be rooting against this weekend who are in that mix whose loss would improve our 3:30 chances? It's a real tea leafer.

I'm rooting for the 50% of the ESPN staffers who are Newhouse grads to drink an extra 5 hour energy shot on Sunday morning and get our game into 3:30...

While here in Syracuse might feel otherwise the noon start on ESPN following Gameday is typically reserved for one of the top games ESPN can't put on Primetime for numerous reasons some conferences hate night games i.e. B1G, other conferences can't have home games on Primetime ABC i.e. the SEC and so if we were showcased as the 12pm ESPN game I would be happy because we would have a pretty large lead-in from the College GameDay audience, but obviously wouldn't have as large a crowd for numerous reasons. The ESPNU 3:30 slot is typically just another decent game on the ESPN menu and if we were given that slot it would mean ESPN doesn't really value Syracuse at all and are just putting the #3 team in the country on a national TV and its not as good a game as others. We don't have a chance in hell for ESPN or ESPN2 Primetime or ABC Primetime if SU is valued more by ESPN then we get the 12pm game if we are valued less then we get the 3:30 ESPNU IMO.

Maryland's success this season is probably hurting us here...FSU-Maryland suddenly has more juice than I thought.

I know the person in charge of programming and he isn't an SU grad. He is a good guy and have many SU friends who work directly for him he is actually a URI graduate. We will get the TV slot which fits our game's value and nothing more SU grads couldn't get us a better time if they wanted too.

Still hoping for 3:30.. purely for fan support especially the students..

Yup. Hope it doesn't happen but noon on espn is waaaaay more eyeballs than 3:30 on the U. But screw eyeballs I want butts in seats

I know this. I was kidding.

I figured I know the guy always put SU basketball in the best times for ratings and have sent him numerous emails telling him to stop giving the SU basketball team 12pm Saturday games, but he says look its for TV ratings and you guys get eyeballs for that slot.

Really hope so.

I emailed an employee at the ticket office and received a phone call back regarding ticket sales.

The employee was very polite and had a couple other questions for me but then answered my question very vaguely which I expected. She said they are doing their very best to fill it and that ticket sales have been very good so far.
