Strikes me as similar to 2023. Clemson was 2-2, all the talk was what's wrong with Clemson.
They didn't destroy us, but they controlled the entire game. They also nearly decapitated Shrader on the first series.
I just think our defense will be their get well game. Again, hope I'm wrong and if so, I'll be the first to admit I know nothing about this sport.

I've watched those 2018 and 2022 highlights on YouTube so many times.
In the 2022 game, there were literally like 8-10 different plays where if just one of them went our way, we probably win. Most notably the Garrett no-call late hit out of bounds, and the very soft late hit out of bounds on us when it was 3rd and long.
That "14 point play" 100 yard fumble return in the first quarter is one of my favorite SU football plays ever.

That was such a bizarre game. I think it was in the first quarter, Garrett threw a miserable routine pitch to LQA that was fumbled and returned for a score.
Sadly I too think this could be a long day for the Cuse. My hope is we hang early. Turnover their QB and maybe some quit sets in for Clemson.

Essentially a score. Returned to the 3 and two plays later Clemson punched it in.
We did follow that up with a TD to pull within 7. But then after some back and forth nothing drives, Klubnik hit a bomb TD to a WR who I had closer coverage on from the upper deck. That kinda sealed it.
This is a game you feel much better at playing at home and not when Clemson is in a must win or their season is ruined position. All we can do is watch. They have alot more to lose than we do though also.
Yeah, this is kind of scary as a Syracuse fan going in. Clemson has time and time again responded well when their backs are against the wall. While, it feels inevitable they respond again starting with us. Here is another perspective, Clemson since 2019 has kind of been like Syracuse basketball from 2014-2019, the elite days are done, but we still had some juice in the engine for some great runs and wins. That juice ran out after 2021. I feel like given some of the history Syracuse has developed with Clemson over the last 10 years (Several key and close regular season games with them) that it would be very fitting if Syracuse delivered what would feel like the real beginning of the end of Clemson’s magic. This would all but eliminate them from the ACC championship game and College Football Playoff.

I look at this in this light (side note I am a deranged optimist lunatic)
their front 7 is so dominate... is that why they're 1-2? Those two first rounders on the DL have made next to no impact so far.
we can't protect the QB and yet... he's leading the land of the free and the home of the brave, and any other nation in passing yards

in 16 games under Fran they have been the underdog 8 times, they're 5-3 ATS and have won 4 of those 8.
their backs are against the wall - it's fight or flight time. Clemson has a great coaching staff, but so do we.
It's going to be fun. There's so many chess matches to keep eyes on and I think Syracuse not only covers, but is going to have a chance come the 4th quarter to win this

This game has gone from "playing Alabama like substance" to "playing Tennessee in the opener." We thought Aguilar would stumble and he did not. He was wonky at first, but we did not take advantage. This QB is supposed to be Heisman-level... if he is overthrowing receivers, etc., the boo birds might come out at home. We need to keep it close in the 1Q to weather the storm and then be fundamentally sound--blocking, tackling, turnovers. The longer this is a game, the more the pressure shifts to them.

I'm not worried about Klubnick. I am however worried about Clemson's d line against our o line. We better have our rotations and assignments locked in. If we can protect Steve, we should be able to get our 24-30 points. We'll see early what the staff thinks if they're rotating Steve out of the pocket. I also think they did a good job showing designed runs last week to hopefully keep Clemson more honest on d. I think we need our QB to run a little early in the game too.
