Clemson opens -16.5 over Cuse…..

If you only throw short passes when you see blizt that makes life easy on the D. They just start jumping routes and only have to play well for 1-2 secs. Thats what Pitt did last year.

We need to hold up, slide protection, or just make good blocks often enough we can force the D to limit so of the all out blitz we are seeing,

For now just dont lose the 4 man rush battles to mental mistakes.

I disagree because it's going to take a few times for the D to gamble on jumping the route so this is when you guess pump and go. Plus short passes can be slants, wr screens, swings, te pop

I remember PB Angeli doing that for a TD to Gill on a pump and go route.

I could be wrong, but it looked like Pitt was playing press coverage and positioning under the short and intermediate routes to take them away.

This clearly says two things:

(1) we have to protect better - everyone sees it on tape that we are vulnerable; and

(2) we have to run the ball better, so they can't put us in passing situations and bring the house.
Unfortunately we only have One decent running back in Willis, and until he is healthy, we are in trouble.

Good thing coaching ethics rules out borrowing other teams' strategies. Also, a good thing that college football is such a small time industry that nobody has the time or resources to watch film from last year. Whew!
It really is shocking nobody else did it exactly the same way as Pitt the rest of the year.

I guess it's a good thing every coach thinks they are the smartest guy and their system is the best, or we might have been in trouble.

That seems a little harsh. Willis is the back who can move the pile.

Nixon is a decent back, and catches the ball well out of the backfield.
(Just don't make him the workhorse, because he's not.)

And that freshman, I think it was Tyliek Hill, showed some shimmy.
He's the guy that got 20+ yards on 2 carries.

blah blah blah they're better than us!

blah blah blah we can't protect the QB!

wah wah wah their front 7!

but but but their backs are against the wall!

why bother watching it?

I look at this in this light (side note I am a deranged optimist lunatic)

their front 7 is so dominate... is that why they're 1-2? Those two first rounders on the DL have made next to no impact so far.

we can't protect the QB and yet... he's leading the land of the free and the home of the brave, and any other nation in passing yards

you are what your record says you are (hello notre lame!)

in 16 games under Fran they have been the underdog 8 times, they're 5-3 ATS and have won 4 of those 8.

their backs are against the wall - it's fight or flight time. Clemson has a great coaching staff, but so do we.

It's going to be fun. There's so many chess matches to keep eyes on and I think Syracuse not only covers, but is going to have a chance come the 4th quarter to win this
