Clemson polling boosters about spring football

Rather than create a new thread, I'll post this here.
.
Per a post on our board quoting the Greg Roberts radio show on WFIR in Roanoke, the ACC and SEC are in talks to create a challenge weekend. the ACC will be broken into 3 pods of 5 teams: North, Mid-Atlantic, and South.

North- ND, Syracuse, BC, Pitt, Louisville

Mid-Atlantic - UVA, VT, NC, Duke, NC State

South - Clem, Mia, FSU, WF, GT

Each pod will play home-and-home, the SEC game (I don't know about ND, though) and there will be an option for a 10th game if the opponents can arrange one.

Interesting.

I like oddities during odd times.

they could swap teams by pod for the 10th.

ie:

week A. Syracuse @ Miss St
week A. BC @ Ole Miss

week B. Ole Mis @ Syracuse
week B. Miss St @ BC

WE WANT ALABAMA!

I am OK with TAMU. If they play in Syracuse, I can visit my Aggie friends. If they play at TAMU, my friends have season tickets.

Actually, I am good with any games, it's about time the SEC and the ACC join together to stick it to the PAC/B1G block. Texas leans east and OU likes the SEC... just sayin'...

I dislike the home-and-home. (I doubt any of the big shots care what I think.)

I would play a 10 game season start 2 weeks later , the more time the other pro sports test the waters the better . Season still would end on time . I’m personally in favor of them playing, im told they will have a choice to sit out and keep there scholarship and eligibility even if the rest play which is all you can ask as a player . That being said the season would go on , the players would have made there choice and take the bullets out of the guns of the politically correct who want to call out college football for only caring about the $$$ . These kids are smart they see people there age statistics and all the positive tested kids showing no symptoms ( not one athlete has gone to a hospital) I’m hearing lots of stud players are going to sit out and wait for the draft . The opinions and guessing is going to come to a halt as we will have an answer within the next 2 weeks if the season will start on time , get pushed back or canceled.

Should get rid of conference only play and keep it regional as possible ( benefit to the north ) as far as number of cases right now .
This limits travel , keeps you in your region creates some first time and maybe only time match ups . Conference games would still happen but in these times less travel and regional is best . We should play army , Buffalo , penn state , bc , Pitt , Rutgers , Maryland , ND , UConn , western mich

Problem is TV compensation

Too big of a hurdle.

I don't see all the conferences pooling their TV money and gate receipts

I bet their fanbase is against it. Spring football for them means no Lawrence, Etienne and probably some others with there eyes on the draft. Curious what the response is to it.

Trevor will play but etienne and a few others on Clemson are saying they won’t but maybe they will change there minds .

If there is no Fall football either they will lose them anyways.

The hardest part with Spring Football is when players get serious injuries you will lose more of them for the Fall.

That affects not only the NFL potential guys and getting drafted but the Freshmen too.

Maybe the Spector or losing the session they will take anything they can get?

No Win situations suck and thus is not me of them

If we are doing 3 five team pods then just cancel the season.
There is no championship being played for. At that point it’s a waste of time. You can’t have a championship game with 3 pods playing home/home.

If the season is moved to the spring you can have a conference only season, championship games across the sport, and 4 team playoff.

Bowls aren’t happening in the fall anyway.

If they play in the fall then teams have to play for conference titles and a championship game.
If the ACC took ND out.
For one season only they could go North/South split for divisions.

If they include ND put them in the North if they don’t want in for the season, then they put UVA for one year in the north and let them pick which South teams they want to play.

North
Boston College
Syracuse
Louisville
Pittsburgh
Virginia Tech
Notre Dame if they want in if not UVA
Miami

South
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Florida State
Wake
Duke
North Carolina
NC State.
Virginia if ND plays.

9 or 10 conference games.
If it’s 9 then play ACC-SEC games.
If 10 just play conference games.

Protect FSU-Miami.

This happens for just one year to reduce travel for this pandemic.

Miami in the north ?

Miami in the north ?
No team can bus to Miami except Florida State. So all the north teams can just fly in there and make it easier to keep one NC team from going to the north.
