On the play in the first half when Angeli got hurt, I thought the Clemson player was late. Angeli was already on the ground and the player jumped right on his legs. No effort to simply touch him down - not that you have to in CFB. I tho it it was intentional to be overly physical on Angeli. And that was the precursor to the subsequent injury.

The first was was BS. The 2nd one was targeting. It was well after the pass and the kid jumped into Angeli high. It was a dirty play.
The first one the Clemson player didn’t not make any faux attempts to stop or lessen up the hit to placate the refs and then he stayed on top of Angeli for an extra second when he didn’t need to. It was borderline but the Clemson player didn’t help himself.

Absolutely this.

Everything #0 did would've been fine if he'd just been turned the other way. I'm not 100% sure why the rule works like that (maybe they're trying to get ahead of fights?) but that's the way it works. Especially on TV you mostly just see the celebration but the flag is in that detail of it.
And he knew it. That’s why he quickly started pounding his helmet. He was hoping no one noticed his jawing while he stood over the Clemson player, and instead just caught his self celebration.

It’s a dumb rule, IMHO, but it was called correctly.

That doesn’t mean Arch Manning shouldn’t have been penalized. That was taunting clear as day. Refs completely blew that and Arch looked like an azz taunting a guy from Sam freaking Houston.

Talk about self-deception . . .
Crowing about leading the nation in passing by posting 800+ yards against UConn & Colgate (at home) is pretty lame. Don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled he put the numbers up, but I'm not foolish enough to puff out my chest for that illusion.
Now compare Angeli's first game (274 yards, 1 TD, 1 into, -27 yds rushing) with his abbreviated and best game (18/34 for 244 with 2 TDs). Angeli was magic out there yesterday. Not perfect, but better. Even more poised. In his earlier games he also threw a wobbly pass here and there. How many highlight catches did Ross-Simmons and Daryl Gill have when Angeli threw not-so-perfect passes.
For some reason, you still want to denigrate Collins's ability. I believe the coaches have a lot to do with the success of our QBs. If you open your eyes, you'll see there is also a "stark difference" between early Angeli and yesterday's version. That's talent and coaching.
Two 4 star QBs, two top level programs, LSU & ND. You may think HCFB was blowing smoke up our a$$es when he called their competition 51-49 in early August, but I take that man at his word.
Of course, you know better 🙄
To be fair, most teams play a lot of cupcakes early in the season.

Saying Rickie isn’t as talented as Steve is crazy. Rickie was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school, and he clearly has more upside than Steve — everybody knows that. Sure, his floor might be lower, but that’s part of developing a young QB. Give the kid a real chance before you start throwing around opinions.
Can’t go by stars at this point. More upside than Angeli? Not sure about that. But other than that, yes give Collins a chance.

Rickie is more mobile than Steve and has a bigger arm, so his upside is higher based on raw talent alone. Now he just needs to develop the game skills—pre-snap reads, accuracy, timing, composure—the things he’ll gain through in-game reps.

But Steve has more accuracy and reads the defense/ field better, depends what you want to focus on.

And still not ranked which is such bullsh. This team has proven it's a top 25 team especially over some of the schlubs they have ranked.
GT benefiting big time from beating Clemson before everyone realized. Now they’re in and the barrier to entry is real.

I'm looking forward to seeing the plays Nixon draws up with a very mobile QB. A new wrinkle.
He is more mobile then Angeli, but like the most recent dual threat was Shrader, so he is easy for comparisons sake. Compared to Shrader it appears Collins is lower on the running capabilities. So I don’t expect him to be running all over at all. Some scrambles to get us out of sticky situations when the field opens up I think will be big for Rickie to attack. I sure hope Rickie settles in and can deliver a catchable ball when the opportunities are there, that’s my biggest worry. I know our receivers will be getting open, we need to capitalize on the rare breaks you get for big plays each game. Thats my biggest thing im watching going forward.

If anything, if he ends up not being overly elusive he looks a beefier to gain a little more YAC.

Are these kids he’s recruited?
Woods is from Bama and had a Georgia offer in 2022.
Terrell is from Georgia and had a Georgia offer in 2023.
Parker from Alabama and had a Georgia offer in 2023.

Not sure if he was any of their primary recruiters, but I’m sure he’s met and evaluated all of them before.

They all have been impact players for Clemson. Parker is probably gone to the NFL after this year though.
