I’ll start with the offense.
They’re going to be able to contain GS better than anyone we’ve played to date… that’s clear. So it’s going to be tough to establish the run until we can thin the box. We’re going to have to hit some vertical shots to do that.
I think this team is more equipped to do that than maybe any squad we’ve had previously. Does anyone bat an eye at Alford, Hatcher or Brown catching a ball down field? We’ve got three WR’s I think that can create downfield.
But those WR’s are going to be covered by the most talented DB’s we’ve seen all season. If we can win a couple of matchups there, it will pay dividends for our offense.
***Special Note - Beck & Anae have been known for trick plays. We’ve seen exactly 0 this year because we haven’t needed them. I’m expecting Beck to scheme up 2 or 3 plays to break it open a bit.
Defensively, I’m excited to see what Rocky creates for Clemson. If we can keep the run game in check it bodes very well for us. If we force Cade to go to the air, I fully trust in Rocky’s capabilities to create pressure and to rattle a young QB. I’m super excited about this chess match specifically.
I do not think this will be a shootout. I think it’ll be very similar to the last two years where the team with the highest number in the 20’s prevails.
On paper, this is probably the closest we’ve ever been to Clemson outside of 2018.
Special Teams - we are capable and adequate in all phases of the kicking game. We need to fair catch more punts or it’s going to bite us. We got a little too comfortable returning punts yesterday. Throw your arm up and get the offense on the field.
This is going to be a fun one team. Really excited for Clemson week!
