Coach Mike Cavanaugh to Arizona State

It’s not official yet but I wish Cav the best and hope his wife finds a donor. Mattox would make sense but the staff might go after someone that could be better or the other possibility is moving Lynch to the O line.
Please do not move lynch to the OL. That would not be an improvement.

I'd be surprised if Dino did this at this point in his tenure. The OL wasn't good under Lynch-That's why we brought in Cavanaugh. Wishing for Fuchs, betting on Mattox.

That might work and then go find an ace recruiting RB coach. Which is an easier sell / find at this point.

I was just wondering about that possibility.

Syracuse offensive line coach Mike Cavanaugh is leaving for the same job at Arizona State, he confirmed.

Did some research on Maddox. Based on his relationship with Dino and DB probably is the hire. Not sure I’m sold. Looking at utsa they had similar injury problem on the OL as su. There center did call out the blocking assignments which would be a change. Looking at Fuchs looks like the more accomplished OL coach.
lynch is not the answer. He was already the OL coach and our line play was poor. This is a critical hire. DB needs mass improvement on the OL or we will probably have a new coaching staff in 2022.

Mattox

Fellas I was hoping Mattox came in last year with Gilbert. That’s the obvious choice. We all know his experience with Dino. I’m just presenting other scenarios, not preferences. There could be better candidates we don’t know about.

What about an SU alum for the position? Maybe one with some previous experience as a HC at both the college and NFL level? And a guy who is from NYC who can claim some toughness. Seems like it would be a nice interim spot to coach up the young guys before he moves back to the NFL.

On second thought, one of those definitely doesn’t exist and a guy like that would never take a college position coaching job. Moving on.

Bailey mentioned in his article that could be a possibility. I think Lynch has done a fine job with the RBs and we've had some talented ones come through in recruiting. Getting a new line coach that knows the system and can coach them up would be better IMO.

There’s a lot more to this story than many people know . All I will say is I have a lot of respect for how Dino and staff had this situation play out.
I'd have a much harder time keeping interesting details off the board than you're able to. (Not a criticism. I like gossip too much.)

Maybe the Cavanaugh family had to move for health reasons pertaining to Mrs. Cavanaugh?
Yes, the fact that Scottsdale is 10000x times better for your health than cuse mental and physical

Too bad Greg Adkins already got scooped up by USC (SC). Would have been interesting to have him as a contender for the spot.

Sounds like a dream job for a guy like that, IMO
