Coach Search Options after Autry

Never ever put a down payment on worry. About just about anything. If something bad happens, you can always worry about it then. If it doesn't happen, you would have worried for nothing.
Very good life advice.

Just for shts and giggles i looked at UW’s offensive stats while Hopkins was there and they are offensive. Finished sub 200 in ppg 4 times and was in the top half of the country once. Was never in the top half of the country in 3 point shooting and finished sub 200 5 times. Oh and we likely get zone again too baby!!!

Compare this to Hodgson and it’s a different sport. Millhouse will have a field day with his shooting threads.

Right Gary Williams, tom Davis and Chuck Daly careers ended after bc. Same w Obrien falling upward into Ohio st

Sounds like a good place to move upwards. We have recency bias.
Read this post from richmondcuse. If you don't realize that it's a different world than it was 30 or 40 years ago, then I'm not sure you're using the critical thinking skills I would expect from a Newhouse grad, to be blunt.

Lally should threaten to withhold football money if they pick Hopkins over his guy - especially if they go with Lyke as AD. Why would he continue to funnel money into an incompetent administration ?

Syracuse hiring Hop would be like Pitt hiring Kevin Stallings. A complete disaster. And Stallings actually had successful seasons at Vandy. Many of the BOT members know Hop extremely well and are comfortable with him. That’s why he’s getting a look. But that is no reason to hire a coach. It’s laughable. Hodgson or Schertz would be able to tap into the same financial pipeline as Hop, btw. But winning is the only thing that will sustain that pipeline, and Hop isn’t going to be able to do that. Even him bringing in offensive and defensive gurus probably wouldn’t help. You have to have experience implementing those systems, and Hop doesn’t have it. His previous systems were losers at UW. He had years to figure things out there, and he failed.
My only push back on that would be Hop has been active in NBA circles - he's had opportunity to add some concepts to his tool kit.

That said I don't want him or anyone affiliated with JB.

I'm also much more concerned about the AD hire as down the road that is going to be the more important hire in terms of SU future.

The subtext with the Hop promotion via the hoops alums is that they know it's their last chance to maintain 'control' over the program. Bringing in a new coach with fresh ideas that could culturally shift an institution that's been slow to change over decades is perhaps an overwhelming thought. Change is scary.

You can't live in nostalgia forever. The choice is obvious, and he wants to make this program a whole new version of what it was. Step forward, Orange basketball, into a new era. It's time.

Wildhack should be pointing to Fran brown and the ability to get buy in from alums. Winning fixes all and needs to come first, the money will follow. If you start with money first and it doesn’t come with wins, the money and support will dry up.

Exactly the wrong thinking. How about the donors that are backing Hopkins. Should they do the same?
