You’re right and couldn’t have said it any better. Jb wasn’t even close to a saint and we kept him forever.

Frankly he was a massive dick, so Agreed. The difference? He wins so he gets away with it. And I support that. My main goal as a fan and a donor is to watch a winning program so I will hire a dick over a saint if it leads to more wins.

why would he say that? Is Syracuse and USF recruiting him for the portal?
Agreed, the selective outrage from so many people in this fanbase is astounding. Every other program’s violations are considered disgusting and reflect poorly on the coach, but conveniently Boeheim gets a pass.
I don’t care if the next coach is a used car salesman. I just want him to win games.

Get rid of the entire staff all the way down the chain to the very bottom, basically every single person who hitches a ride on the team bus or charter flights needs to go. This program needs a total overhaul and reset. The new staff will figure out key codes, light switches, and where to park.
Fair enough to not want anyone from the JB tree so where to go in a lackluster market, Brad Stevens is NOT leaving Boston and Jay Wright is not driving up the PA Turnpike and 81 for a second act. Tony Bennett loves coaching and might end up on the sideline again but it won’t be in the Dome.
I just don’t see the someone currently at the top of the basketball food chain who has consistently had deep tourney runs and conjured up 25+ win seasons as much as Shaq shows up in TV commercials coming to Syracuse. The basic fundamentals for what is a strong program is just not there, could that change, maybe but it would take cleaning out the entire athletic department which is not happening. So where does that leave the would be search committee to go? Maybe Nate Oats could be lured back north but not sure how realistic that would be. The other Hurley coming back east would be ho-hum. None of the head or assistant coaches at Gonzaga, Arizona, Houston, Purdue, or Kansas are walking through the door.
Let’s go way outside the box and think differently than a Power 5 men’s basketball program ever has. Dawn Staley or Becky Hammon just might pick up the phone.

This this this this. I’ve been saying it for so long. There are some that act like you have to be a saint to coach at Syracuse university. They must’ve forgot who the coach that built this program up was. “I’d rather lose for the rest of my lifetime than hire Pitino or Bruce” … Why?
For the love of god please stop.

You know what, I’m sorry. You may be on to something here by encouraging the program to think outside the box. But I think your idea of Hammon or Staley is still box adjacent because they are both still basketball coaches, albeit women’s basketball.
We need to be really bold. How about we hire a Buddhist monk to coach the team? The breathing exercises and meditation might help our players relax and shoot better at the foul line. This could really help us win close games in March.

I love Bruce all around, on and off the court. I think he’s a stand up guy and agree with his views. I don’t, however, think he has any interest in moving to the northeast or coaching again soon. Why would he step away from Auburn if he wanted to coach? He has his sights set on politics or something bigger imo

Our boy Pitino got spanked again last night losing to Auburn. He’s lost to every decent team he’s played.
And he's got zero history of success he can point to, just like Few... not sure why we bring this up wrt to Autry? Zero correlation

He was preseason top ten and his team looks like crap. He spent a fortune with his squad and he’s struggling like a lot of teams. Good and bad teams lose games for all kinds of ways. Pitino has proven to be a good coach, but he’s not the savior like a lot of fans around here want to believe. He’s also not the same coach he was ten years ago. St. John’s has a lot of flaws and Slick Rick put that team together. There’s a lot of coaches I would take over Pitino.

I just want to deconstruct what wildhack saw in Autry. I get this hire was going to be a gift to Boeheim and boosters (thx guys!) but why was he better than other options like Gerry or Hopkins. Both made no sense in reality but it seems like there was zero interview process for the biggest job at SU in their sports dept
To me this is crazy. I don’t blame Autry. He’s obviously not a good coach. It’s not working but the BoT and AD have to answer for this non process.
I doubt Crouthamel hired Pasqualoni or McPherson by finger in the wind analysis or a trustee saying “trust me”
Major issue at SU until we get answers why we are ok w the “let’s see if it works” mentality.
