Is this a serious question? You can spend the interest or dividends for special projects. But you don't touch the principal. If you do, sooner or later, sooner I think, you won't have that principal.

bingo. they publish an audit as part of government requirements. they show exactly how much they draw off the endowment every year to cover operating expenses, scholarships, etc.

The typical model is to draw 4 to 5% annually of the total value for immediate spending needs while also ensuring the overall amount continues to grow / keeps up with inflation.

What is your definition of search? Because I am sure they are searching right now. Unless you know they have reached out to nobody and have only reached out to Hodgson, and that is the only plan.

I might be in the minority, but while I like Hodgson, I would also like a search. Not a 6 month search, but enough to see what's out there and feel good that Hodgson is the very best candidate, not just a very good candidate who happens to be from Western NY.
