Don’t believe everything Trilly says. His info isn’t as good as it was a couple years ago, and he gets played at times by ADs, agents, donors, spin doctors with their own agendas. If you look at the portal last season, he would constantly be updating his speculations as situations unfolded and shifted. Same with the coaching carousel.FWIW Trilly Donovan has alluded to Schertz's camp not being interested in SU. He's not wrong on these things. I want Schertz, but don't get your hopes up.
And who knows, I fully expect JW to have been putting out feelers already. Maybe there are discussions being had. Schertz certainly would not want that leaked while his team is rolling the way it is. Deflection and diversion...Don’t believe everything Trilly says. That could be true. I want to put it out there on why this could be such a home run as a culture fit at Syracuse. Born in Brooklyn, NY with deep ties to South Florida. Worked his way up through division two to where he is now. I know this shouldn’t be a main decider on the qualification for the job, but this to me is a huge plus on why Schertz. He has a Jewish background and is proud of it and is known to engage the St Louis Jewish community and university. It’s something that I think would work at Syracuse with a nearly 20% Jewish student population. I would imagine a meaningful portion of the target wealthy donor base Syracuse needs is Jewish and he may be able to connect with that base on a more personal level than other coaches could. This shouldn’t be the main deciding factor, it’s just another reason why this could be a home run hire. There’s rumors by schertz camp that he would choose the cincy job over cuse.
Race, religion or any characteristics other than experience and their ability to do the job should not be brought into the equation. That could be true. From a hiring perspective, absolutely not. I’m not firing or hiring anyone. Whoever is the head coach regardless of race, religion, or other characteristics, I want to win. I still want Autry to turn this around with a huge winning streak down the stretch of the season. As a fan, I’m just pointing out a plus about Schertz. His qualifications and ability to the job will speak for itself.Race, religion or any characteristics other than experience and their ability to do the job should not be brought into the equation.
People don’t understand what retired means. That goes for Jay Wright as well.Anyone else desperate enough to hire Bruce pearl?
Also pretty sure it would be illegal if that explicitly is something that is the factor of giving him the job over someone else with the exact same qualifications. I just hope if they are hiring they are thinking bigger picture. I think they are based on the Fran Brown hire of his ability to level up the brand for Syracuse football recruiting. From a hiring perspective, absolutely not. I’m not firing or hiring anyone.
