Coach Search Options after Autry

Don’t disagree but those who want to ignore what hiring Gerry would do for the program if he is successful back at Syracuse are kidding themselves as well. He is one of the most beloved players ever at Syracuse. (Insert post from 55 year old dude who loved Peter Wynn or Dave Siock more)
I need to see him do it more. And he needs to have a team score more than 70 a game.

I don't think anyone is ignoring that, but the hire is based on the bit I bolded.

At this time, there are far, far better candidates. If anything, that's what the GMac cheerleaders are ignoring.

Trying not to get flashbacks watching the Commanders HC search 2 years ago. Everyone was saying they were getting Ben Johnson. I was so excited watching the Lions in the playoffs that year imagining him as coach. They were flying out to interview him when he pulled his name from being considered to stay with the Lions. They ended up hiring Dan Quinn and I was really bummed. Ended up turning out ok but I don't want that to happen again.

Please not St Louis coach. He is no good. Terrible game today.

They’ve been wobbly down the stretch and it’s not the first time under JS. He might be in the spot he belongs there signing an extension. Rough timing to lose that right after the extension lol

I think Saint Louis will be in line for a big east call up very soon

Take the coaches names and feelings out of it. I can't believe anyone watching a USF game and a Siena game would want Siena's basketball systems here on offense and defense compared to USF systems of basketball. It is like old versus modern. Modern gives us the best chance to compete at a national level without the best NIL. USF pace here at Syracuse can overwhelm more talented teams.

Pragmatically, there is no REAL comparative argument for GMAC.

The case for GMAC right now is nostalgia feel-good legend warm fuzzies.

GMAC certainly has a promising trajectory brewing for his coaching career, however. But compared to Hodg, he's not ready for primetime (yet).

It should also be mentioned that nothing would be worse than GMAC getting the job and being too green to be truly effective in a P4/ACC job and watching him flame out with AO and Blackwell in tow, while the musical conference chairs start again in 2030... That would suck big time after the Red debacle. I do not want to see that for GMAC and worry it's a little too soon for him and a REAL possible outcome.

Bring GMAC back in the future, when he's ready, and proven he can do the modern game and job. He's well on his way to building that CV, so let him do it.

Tell the Gmac fanboys that.
