Why on earth would an agent pull leverage before USF plays?

Unless BH, Providence, USF etc all know we’re not even close on the NIL number, which I don’t think is the case.

I’ve gone back and forth with a few of you about NIL (being a negative for Syracuse) you guys told me “look what Fran’s doing though” most of these players are taking less deals to come play for FRAN and there getting NIL but probably a lot less than another school. Same thing with basketball the school is being cheap here again.

Lot going on behind the scenes and he may be getting bullied as dumb as that sounds. New AD also said something along the lines of “stretching each dollar in the bucket to spend as efficiently as possible”. That stood out the MOST to me

The big issue here is not only the coach, but not having the resources for ANY coach to be successful. It won’t matter who we get if we can’t compete for players. That’s the saddest part of this whole fiasco.

This is the major point. We aren't serious. If we can't pony up to be top third of the conference money wise what was the point of moving to the ACC? To be in 9th place every year?

Here's my take. Boeheim took below market pay to stay at Syracuse. Autry made a below average head coaching salary as he was a promoted assistant. Thus, Syracuse became used to paying a below average head coaching salary. Then revenue sharing showed up as well as NIL. The revenue sharing isn't the problem, but NIL is hard and you need the school administration, the athletic department, boosters, fans, and local businesses in alignment. That is very difficult given Syracuse has a new President, a new AD, and, it appears, boosters who may not be happy. In other words, the timing to replace Autry was not ideal as the important factions are not aligned and financially committed to returning Syracuse basketball to the top of college basketball.

And, Syracuse appears to have gone all in (as much as Syracuse can be all in) on football. That means Syracuse men's basketball has become secondary when it comes to financial resources.

This means Syracuse has to attract a coach who can coach up the players and rebuild the program. When Syracuse starts winning again, the financial resources will be found.

The future to remaining in a power conference is football, full stop. I love bball just as much but football has and will continue to drive bus. UConn's won two championships in the last 3 years and they are hemorrhaging money and would trade both for an invite to the B12 at this point. It's not 1991, bball doesn't' move the needle.
