He’d be a good outside the family hire, doubt his buyout is that big at Charleston either.Chris Mack is actually and excellent coach.

And using his meal cardyup, he's notorious for that. an odd guy that just does his own thing. You don't count on anything when hiring his son except perhaps him showing up for free.
If I'm being honest I would also take Chris Holtmann over Gmac and Hop.Chris Mack is actually and excellent coach.
lol. And now it is morning here, I did my morning things, went for a walk, and now catching back up on 25 pages.Where did everyone go?
Only 11:15 in Arizona.
Interesting take
See my exact post about 30 pages ago, lol where I pointed out how he all of a sudden became the next hot thing, and his price rose with it.Not to defend anyone because I have no stake in this game as anyone but a fan. But what if for the last year they were getting one NIL number from a candidate and all of the sudden the candidate gets hot and his name gets into the press as the next thing since sliced bread and he increases his NIL number by 50%? If the university doesn't believe it can consistently deliver the NIL each year that the candidate is going to need then why hire him? The dude will just quit with the first better offer he gets.
My hunch is we are already down this path with mr dart... except he was so grateful for the chance he probably said I'll bring the money. But now he will leave with the first better offer he gets where he doesn't have to do as much of the heavy lifting and he will take the team with him.
If they are seeing the same with Hodgson than they are better off not hiring him. I agree it shows a complete lack of ambition, but money is money. We all need to reset our expectations as fans... it seems we are going to be bubble program that makes it into the dance once every 3/4 years moving forward. Basically we will be providence but in a more challenging conference, so we won't make the dance as often.
It is cope but there is no sure thing.Cope
I trust you. Honestly, am not into paying attention to specific posters & writing posts to shame them into group think compliance.
Apologies if you perceived this as an attack on you personally.
I'm just skimming through & using my limited mental capacity to track themes & then commenting when a post triggers a theme I noticed.
The themes are majorly negative towards GMac, as if he will be Red Redux. That is not fair. Imo.
The other themes treat Hodgson like he's a mix of Danny Ferry, John Wooden & Mark Few, and I don't think that is fair either, or supported by evidence. That said, I do acknowledge his wins are against a greater SOS, per that metric. But, also, when I look at the teams he's played against, I don't see anything of significance.
It is cope but there is no sure thing.
Will Wade was the best coach on the ACC board last year. Some of you here would’ve been begging for him last year if Autry got canned at end of year 2. Many of you would’ve been having the same melt down if he fell off our board and went to Nc state because we didn’t have the money or turned our nose up at his past.
It bought 20 wins and play in game exit this year.
Odom on the other hand flew under the radar and was on nobody’s list and then all the sudden crushed.
Again no sure things. I 100% do not see BH leaving USF to Providence so this may all be a moot point, he will continue to win in a midmajor and we may not know for years if he is the real deal P5 coach.
I said from day 1 UVA made a hell of a hire with OdomI like Chris Mack a lot; If you’re listing outside coaching hires, what about Bryce Drew and Bobby Hurley?Updated because Chris Mack lol
1. Schertz
2. Olen
3. Calhoun
4. Hodgson
5. Martelli Jr
6. Chris Mack
7. Murray
8. Steele
9. Groce
10. Skinn (personally don't want because no real offense)
Honestly it seems we where late in naming a new AD. If its been known that JW was leaving why not have named a new AD a month ago? That would give the new AD sufficient time to do a national search. Haynie has been the guy from the sounds of it for awhile just not named so that should not have delayed a new AD decision. It sounds like whatever direction we go will be either be basically already decided (Gmac/Hop) with little input from the new AD or rushed to find a new candidate. Will see how things sort out but seems timing could have been better if you really wanted the new AD involved in the decision. The timing is the problem you can't just have a national search now should have already been done and over with at this point. This is when you should be locking in your choice. Portal opens in 2 weeks they need to be ready to go ASAP.
If you are just now doing a national search you are way behind and will be coming in while other coaches are in the middle of negotiations which will make things 10000 time harder.
Nobody waits until the tournament is over to do a search the last couple of years these things are done before the first weekend starts but but but this is Syracuse and never forward thinking and always late to the party so it make sense that we are just now getting started.
I like Chris Mack a loy; If you’re listing outside coaching hires, what about Bryce Drew and Bobby Hurley?
I never thought Wade was good. I thought Odom was good. I am pretty sold on Hodg because he’s analytically driven and makes decisions like no one else available. The Syracuse guys are not analytically driven and operate like it’s 2005.It is cope but there is no sure thing.

Doty isn’t a PG and Mulvey is in his final year. Folefac would be a guy worth monitoring though.DOTY AS A MCW/SILENT G type pg. BRING BACK BIG BERN TO TURN MULVEY INTO ONUAKU
No one in the admin hired Fran thinking he was a lifer here. We are stepping stone in football, not the same case in basketballNot to defend anyone because I have no stake in this game as anyone but a fan. It probably changed 3 times while you wer typing this post.Hogdson is apparently out. Basketball alums still want Hop and are apparently willing to pony up for bad coaching as part of the SU friends and family plan. Still some hope that Blair can pull something out of his rear to save us from Hop, but not with Hodgson.
Hopefully I have that all right, but it's probably changed by now anyway.
To be frank I think Hop MAY BE a downgrade from Red.This doesn't look like an improvement over our last 10 years. We actually had more NCAA wins and appearances during his tenure at UW.

Dude can’t make a layup. He’d fit in well here.Doty isn’t a PG and Mulvey is in his final year. Folefac would be a guy worth monitoring though.
Your lips (on outside the family).I still think it’s going to be outside the family.
And if it does stay in the family, it will be Gmac as long as he wants it.
The issue wasnt getting Hodgson or not. The rumor is that Hodgson turned us down because he viewed our NIL budget as insufficient.
If this is true, it will not bode well for whomever the next coach is to get things turned around.
