Like I don't think Hodgson will be the best option on the market, and I think there will be nights when the defense will kill us and everyone in the board will be complaining but but but but man do I want the entertainment factor of Hodgson scoring over 90 points a game here on a nightly basis. I have a new leader in clubhouse, name has been somewhat mentioned before is John Groce at Akron. Dude was fired at Illinois, but he wins at Akron. It’s a new era and Syracuse has the GM to help with the talent acquisition part which I think was his shortcoming at Illinois. Worth a second chance? This hire needs to be about stability and raising the floor of the program. A product the fan base will trust and reenergize the dome. You’re telling me when UConn hired Hurley they expected what they have seen from results. Maybe a guy like Groce won’t catch lightning in a bottle and perform at that level, but with the increased resources and infrastructure, he is a guy that I think will deliver reasonable results and rebuild the floor of the program atleast. Anything bigger than that is gravy.

Groce was atrocious and clueless at Illinois. No freakin way.

I saw it last season then kind of went off the idea a bit, but this last week or so, it feels like this is aligning the way it needs too for this to happen. I don't think he necessarily needs to get USF to the NCAAT in year 1, but I know that if he does this will only raise the confidence and excitement from the fan base if we are able to get him.

Just a point on midmajors and the NCAAT. This year more than ever and the same for the coming years it will be less and less likely we see multi-bid midmajors. It's going to be win the conference tourney or bust. Not ideal for a midmajor but just is what it is.

It's the way the P5 and super-conferences are setting things up with the portal and how they're working the Net.

Another huge positive I see next year for our new coach and the inevitable housecleaning and rebrand is that the tourney will be expanded by 8 more teams to 76, most of these bids again going to P5 schools. That's going to give him a longer runway, We may see most P5 programs getting an extra bid or 2 per conference.

I want whoever our coach is with a fire under his butt to roll in the ACC and get us back ranked, but also recognize that the casual fanbase will just be ecstatic to know they're heading to March Madness. On the flipside if he misses the tourney year 1 with an expanded field...Houston we have a problem.
