Coach Search Options after Autry

Watching this St. Louis versus Michigan game. St. Louis is a nine seed, Michigan the one seed, and they're getting a lot of favorable calls. But watching the St. Louis execution, passing, movement without the ball, it's like watching a completely different game than the slop we've been subjected to the last 7 or 8 years.

I have no idea how realistic Scherz is as a potential hire, but sign me up.

Might be waiting to see if Oats goes to UNC and 'Bama opens? Would they hire him because of his history with Oats
That’s the rumor going around. UNC might be going hard after Byington and Oats. Hodgson might be waiting like you said, good point.

I can’t believe Hodgson hasn’t been announced at PC yet. Wonder if he’s cooking something up with USF more than we thought.
Same. I was posting that yesterday right before that fake Reinart post went out then there was bigger stuff goin on.

Might be something we’re not hearing. Personally I think the Lallys are going to bankroll him at USF another year or two. They like their winter snowbird setup down there watching him beat up midmajor teams. I don’t think Providence had a shot ever, they were just leverage.

I don't think you necessarily need 5 shooters to spread the floor, but man, St. Louis' spacing is so good. I don't think our personnel was really even capable of running the stuff St. Louis does because nobody would defend us in a way that opens up all these cuts.

Well-coached, modern bball offense.

So I was recently in Houston, and the rodeo was going on, so there were people in town from all over. During a long delay at the airport, I was hanging in the lounge and struck up a conversation with the guy next to me. Turns out, he's pretty high up in marketing at Hertz and he's a big college sports fan. I told him the Dan Mullen story with all the rental car jokes, and he loved it.

Then he leaned in close and told me I could never repeat this, but Hertz was actually in the process of working on a new NIL deal with a soon-to-be Syracuse head coach. He said they had the letters Hertz in their name and they were going to legally change their name to capitalize those letters in exchange for $10M a year of NIL money.

So, I don't think we're hiring Josh Schertz. But we might be hiring josh scHERTZ.

I asked him if they'd bump it to $11M a year if we agreed to call him HCHERTZ instead of HCJS on the forum, but that was a no go.
Hertz is shaky potatoes financially we don’t want to bank the future on them for NIL…..

Hertz Global Holdings (HTZ)
is navigating significant financial strain, reporting a $747 million net loss for full-year 2025 and a $194 million net loss in Q4, with revenue declining 6.02% year-over-year. The company is actively cutting its electric vehicle (EV) fleet to reduce depreciation costs and improve cash flow by – million. Octus reports that elevated EV depreciation and operational costs have caused significant cash burn.
Yahoo Finance +4
Key Financial Metrics (2025):
  • Revenue (ttm): $\sim$$8.5 billion
  • Net Income (Full Year): -$747 million
  • Adjusted Corporate EBITDA (Q4): -$205 million, though improving by ~$150M year-over-year
  • Utilization (Q4): 78% (81% for the full year)
We need to go back to the Mullin times and pursue Enterprise. Like they say in Step Brothers….
"I'm just gonna to do what's sensible, I'm gonna file for unemployment. Then I'm gonna try to get a job at Enterprise Rent-A-Car, because they got an excellent corporate structure and they... they give you the tools to be your own boss".

6 blocks by that one big dude would agree
Here in italy we have a kid better than Mara. he is more than seven feet tall. His name is luigi suigo. He’s playing in serbia this year. Last summer he visited illinois university, if memory serves me well but he decided to stay in europe (more money, guess…). I don’t know if he still interested to play college ball, but he would be a great catch for us!

So Bees and I got calls from our ticket reps on Friday for donations. Tuesday is National Orange Day; Our big day of "giving". I think they could aim for a Monday announcement or Tuesday morning, so they can push out the staff to call donors on giving day. I give to several areas, and my biggest donation will be to the Women's Basketball Excellence Fund which is for revenue sharing specifically for women's basketball, but I might for ex switch a Newhouse donation more to men's basketball if said announcement speaks to my Orange heart. By the way dasher . We must have been at Newhouse at the same time.

I originally made Bulldog04 responsible for getting us Schertz now I am giving you 50% of that responsibility. You and Bulldong better not let us down

In the first half the only difference between these teams is size. If our NIL is in order for Schertz (so he can get P4 players to run his system), we can go toe to toe with teams like Michigan 100%
We’re going to be disappointed when it’s Gerry on Monday 😅
