We need major NIL dollars to compete on a high level for top recruits. For starters, the powers that be will need to make amends with Adam Weitsman and from there try to tap into other billionaires or wealthy alumni (do we have a relationship with Al Waleed bin Talal Al Saud?).

Maybe if we have a bigger NIL budget kids will dive on the floor for loose balls. They can put it in their contract. Smh

A fast rebuild is definitely possible. See Michigan and Louisville. Each program was near the gutter after failed hired of long time star players who couldn’t coach. They slashed the roster to the bare and rebuilt. Yes they probably had a lot more NIL than us. But Both times with young dynamic coaches without major pedigree though Kelsey had success at lower level. I see lots of parallels with Hodgson. Hope we move quickly and give him what he needs. Including bringing some staff, who’ve been with him for a while. Sign the kids he’s after for ‘26 recruit the crap out of Canada, pick smartly in the portal and reestablish DMV.

For real. Also Has anyone else noticed that whenever AW shows up in a social media post a handful of accounts all the sudden show back up.

The comments don’t worship him of anything. It’s all this implied narrative crap about how things used to be. Thinks like what we need to do is “get AW back” and things like “I don’t think AW wanted or knew of any of this”.

It’s like they just wanna keep the convo going as long as possible each time and somehow mix in that AW was a big part of Cuse’s success in the past and now he just wants to help get us back. It’s just that his hands are unfortunately completely tied until some secret society of Syracuse decisionmakers allows him to help again.

Im sorry but methinks if he cares he can just cut a check today. Im sure it’ll get cashed.
He loves spending money on his stable of internet minions. We know this

I think people dont realize how much national attention this program will get again when/if they get back to top 25 level.

Seems like its a million years away but all u need is one year “back” and its like riding a bike
these coaches have to know right ? like syracuse is a top 10 school all time no doubt.

top 10 biggest fan base no doubt.

who wouldn’t want to pack the dome ?

Izaiyah Nelson on Hodgson:

What made you decide to follow coach Bryan Hodgson to USF?

"I just know what I have with coach B, and that is an elite coach who is going to coach us really hard, hold us to an extremely high standard, but also care for us to an extremely high standard. Coach's play-style isn't easy and he told Joe (Joseph Pinion) and me that he needed us to help set the culture at his next stop. He needed guys who had been through it with him to help guys see the light at the end of the tunnel in the middle of July workouts. I followed him because I knew if I gave my all every single day, I'd have the best opportunity to be great as I would have anywhere else in the country. "

Pretty good article here lots of insight on USF for you guys that don't watch much basketball outside of Syracuse. Some of the better quotes...

"Coach (Hodgson) runs this like an NBA team,'' said Bulls senior center Izaiyah Nelson, a frontrunner for American Conference Player of the Year while averaging 16.0 points and 9.8 rebounds. "If you don't like our style of play, you don't like basketball. As players, we dream about playing this style. Other teams probably don't like preparing for us because we're looking to run you into the ground.''

USF leads the American in seven team categories — average points (88.8), rebounds (42.7), offensive rebounds (15.3), assists, free-throw attempts (28.1), free throws made (20.6) and 3-point attempts (29.1). Nelson is the American pace-setter in rebounds (9.8), field-goal percentage (.592), and double-doubles (16).

"It's great to score up in triple digits, but honestly, we focus more on our offensive efficiency numbers and getting lots of possessions,'' Hodgson said. "The No. 1 thing is winning basketball games. The way we recruit, we have an offensive-heavy mindset, but we look to teach them to be great defenders. Scoring is great. We want to be great at defense, too.''

"What was promised has been delivered — the reality is we're a fast-paced, hard-nosed playing team,'' Brown said. "But people don't see the work behind the scenes, the practices where we're running two hours straight. No stops, very few breaks, nothing. It was a hard time, but I adjusted to it, and now it's my way of life.

"That one is huge,'' Quarles said. "We want high (volume of) 3's, high layups, high free throws … and not a lot of mid-range 2's. That formula turns into a lot of points and being as efficient as we can be.

Legitimately the complete opposite of Red

URI gives me PTSD. Reminds me of that nightmare when our loaded '88 team got booted from the tournament by the Rams.
Schertz losing to URI clearly knocks him out of contention for Syracuse. We can’t have our next head coach losing games.

That means our candidate pool is down to Travis Steele as the sole candidate…….

Seems like his players like playing for him. I bet Enis follows him if he goes anywhere. Enis and Kingz would be a nice combo of lefty shooters.

The game on Friday night against VCU should be good. VCU has won 10 in a row and if they win, will be tied for first in the A-10 w/ them. Will be interesting to see how they bounce back.
IF they don't win their tournament they are still a lock right? I don't think he's ever coached an NCAA game.

South Florida almost certainly has to win the conference tourney to get in. Can’t imagine the American being a 2-bid league this year with Witchita State and Memphis being down.

Yeah that I know. I was questioning the A-10 in connection with St Louis loss to URI and upcoming game with VCU.

O, just re-read your comment and what you were responding to. I’m an idiot.

I don't think you have to worry about that scenario lol
The NC State Keates miracle run to the final 4 situation taught every major P4 program a lesson for the modern era.

Enjoy the Tourney run but don't make rash decisions on keeping or even extending a coach you were going to fire. It's sports, there will always be miracle runs but the coaches are still going to be the same coaches the next year.

It bought him a year and they were right back in the same boat.
