You're half right. He didn't want to leave Manley for the Dome, but he was not against joining the Big East. He was strongly against the move to the ACC, but publicly admitted that he had no sway in that football-dominated decision.

I think there will be four worse teams than them. Some of these conferences are extremely weak, and upsets happen...

I think some people saw the pivot on the AD and are immediately assuming there will be an "out of left field " hire.
In my opinion, the new AD has already shared in the interview process his thoughts on the hire and probably had a dialogue on it with JW, Haynie, Lally, etc. I would think best available in the market is probably the "less risky " lane to take in the interview. If BB comes up with a wild unknown, then he potentially risks the interview. Syracuse has already played their mulligan with Red. Rolling dice on surprise candidate for hoops is to risky. JW probably has numbers needed from BH, Schertz and other candidate's agents. The simplest or perhaps more appropriate less risky hire who can turn the program national again is "blank". I would add with BB being a "football guy", inputs from Lally will influence. Given Lally link to BH therefore helps BB out of the gate fundraising.
To me, given data and circumstances it's highly likely it's BH. Especially with insiders saying BH.

We've been handed a gift this offseason: we're the biggest program making a change, AND one of the hottest up and comers wants us, specifically.

Imagine we go with GMac and we're ready to move on 3 years from now. We won't likely be the biggest school then, and our options are going to be even more limited. Hodgson will likely be beyond our reach, like Oats. We'll be looking back and dreaming about this offseason.

but if there was an “out of left field” hire, shaheen holloway would definitely be interesting. Still don’t think SU will go away from what we are already hearing but it’s fun to speculate.

The vibe I would take on the job since Gerry won MAAC .. There is push with the hoops family to get him hired including JB … In interview Blackwell didnt shoot down idea and expressed it would be hard to pass up .. GMAC and crew want it .. You don’t put that out there if it’s not possibility .. so job is not wrapped up ..

Also here’s my question . if Gerry behind the scenes says I want the job, how hard will that be to say no to a guy who’s done so much .. Yeah winning a Natty is a lot and being loyal to the Cuse . How much it means to a candidate if there good is gonna be hard to turn down .. And I’ll say again Gerry so not Red .. We all supported Red in begging but nobody saw that as a good hire and no one is surprised we are here right now

Nope different!… people on the board cannot understand that Gerry is not Red or JB .. Watch his games, watch his coaching and listen to him .. They are not the same .. Res did not will a Natty . Red has not won a conf tourney ,, Red has not coached in NCAA.. ..

You know Gerry isn't fighting Red for the job. Gerry is fighting a national search, and in a national search, when you take the actual emotion out, like you are displaying, the facts show he is well behind multiple other more qualified candidates.

So nope, it is not different, need to be a grown-up and just tell GMac no thank you in the nicest way possible and go about hiring the best coach we can without emotion attached.

I sincerely hope that GMAC is just a finalist so Syracuse can later say that they gave GMAC a fair shot at the job.

If GMAC is the hire, his contract should be cheap, short, and easy to get out of quickly if needed. I can't watch 3 more years of this.

There’s a good 6 leagues worse. Lehigh is like 100 teams worse than Siena on KenPom.
