Coach Search Options after Autry

1) I wish I had the money as a donor we are each pining the actual donors to give. I feel like I am looking thru the couch for my car payment some months
2) let’s hire BH to coach the offense, Holloway the defense and Gerry to shake hands with all the fans
3) let’s support the hire regardless and get butts in the seats and each of us donate at least $100 to a collective?
4) I like lists
E) always be consistent!
6) thank goodness we cleaned house bc it couldn’t get much worse
7) LGO!

It’s not that good of a fanbase. Place is half orange every time I have gone. They also are angry and have an inferiority complex.

In 2014, I was travelling for work in Providence. I went to a bar for dinner, PC was doing well in basketball, had just won the Big East tournament and were headed to the NCAAs (but teams weren’t selected yet). I mentioned they were doing well thinking it would spark conversation and just got confused looks. They could talk about the Bruins Cup chances, complain about the Celtics being trash - but they couldn’t talk about the Friars because it was news to them they’d made the NCAA tournament. I might have gotten a different reaction a few days later after teams were seeded since they would’ve filled out their brackets by then - but it stuck with me that’s how irrelevant Providence basketball is in Providence.

I think the few fans that exist are angry because nobody around them cares about the thing they love.

Holloway cannot string good years together. Not to mention he’s coming off a 7-25 season last year and is on the back edge of the bubble with needing to be St John’s to get closer but probably has to win the BET to get in.

yeah, I think it’s absolutely insane. How the college basketball community is acting like if Holloway was open this circuit then he would immediately be taken. like this guy is not achieved that much he has had horrible seasons.

So now we’re in the are we a more attractive program than Providence stage of grief?
Kinda. We're in the "we don't have the NIL resources of Providence and we never will so why bother" stage. That will subside and probably return next March, after we were told all summer that NIL was fine. It's an SU board tradition.

Depends on how many excuses need to be made for the performance of the next HC.

Hall is a tough job. My wife is an alum and we’ve had season tickets. They were not prepared for NIL and got decimated after their NIT championship. I’ve said it before far from a perfect hire but his teams play hard - this years team was picked to finish last in the Big East and have overachieved.

It’s a tough job, but he’s coached 8 years when you add in St. Peter’s and averaged over 70ppg once. Another play hard zero
idea what to do on offense coach.

Sounds like a micro specific moment in time

PC has a real fan base. It’s not Syracuse I wouldn’t suggest that. But it’s a real team and been one of the great stepping stone jobs

Hahahah completely agree! I mean is St John’s a better job because of rapoli? It’s preposterous to think one booster captivates the ranking now.

Syracuse is a top 10 job in the country all things being equal. Right now we are in a lawless era of hoops. At some point everyone will be exhausted from the spend because the ROI is not there. This is Escobar using cocaine money to fund Medellin soccer. Crazy town

Eventually universe will return w guardrails because the blue bloods will force it

Hodgson has been all but openly campaigning for the SU job for at least a year with a very influential donor backing him and he’s going turn all of that down for … Providence? Color me skeptical.

That said, nothing is going to surprise me. Disappoint me, sure, but I still don’t trust SU to make the right choices. Yet.
