Coach Search Options after Autry

Lallys are acting like they are the AD, the head of marketing, head of communications, number 1 donor, player relations and some. People wanna talk about AW, he does not have a bad bone in his body. Lallys are something else
I'll make it clear, the Lally's opinions shouldn't be taken at face value, but something else is clear to me. They seem to be somewhat outsiders from being in Central New York, but have a huge heart for Central New York. They run in other circles outside of Central New York and likely saw the way they did things and saw successful results and the powers that be in Central New York having no clue how to adjust to the current environment. The AD thing, could age to be the best of both worlds, even though they didn't apparently get exactly what they wanted. And the new head coach, we shall see as well. I highly suggest Gerry take another job on the east coast in a good American or Atlantic 10 program to truly set him up for a retry down the road of the Boeheim tree if necessary. Although, if the Hodgson thing falls through, that may be happening not by choice, but by being the best option available to Syracuse. My gut feeling is I think the Lally's knew even before Autry took over that the Boeheim way had lost the plot in the grand scheme of College Basketball. Autry was truly a compromise to get the ball rolling to the moment we are at now. If Autry overperformed, then great, much easier path forward for everyone, but what was the most likely outcome happened. It's not that Autry tried something different, he did, but once you start bringing in new ways from the way you learned how to do it, it's truly a crapshoot if you are good enough at that way to deliver results.

Quick everyone. Who knows people in Iowa?

Guess No one. Personally if not for college hoops I’m not sure anyone would even know if it’s a real place or not
You have at least 3 Iowa posters on board, and I am an ISU alum (only because I was already living here and went back to school, and they had a degree I was looking for). I have already reached out to some ISU boosters I know, not sure what if anything they would know.

From a few hours away and live in Big 12 country. I get that Otz's buyout is low for how good he is, but I don't see where SU comes in unless we're just kicking tires. There just aren't a lot of great openings this year so I'd think that if he wants to leave ISU (which I'm not sure of either way) he would wait for a bigger job to open. I don't have any inside info, but if his camp has expressed interest in Cuse I would bet on it being a leverage play to bring his salary up to market in a down year for openings.

He's a longtime Hoiberg disciple and has roots in Wisconsin, but he's coached all over the country and is clearly excellent. He's brought talent from all over the world to Ames which is no small feat. His wife is a former WNBA player from Australia, so no family ties there. The AD who hired him is still at ISU. I think he would be a home run hire and I guess you never say never but I just don't see it.
Pretty sure wifey played at ISU also

Call me crazy, I think GMAC would be a phenomenal fit at Butler. Though he may not have enough experience to get the job there. This should be the only job above the A10 or the American he should consider this cycle.

Probably will be Travis Steele

Not true. They are well known for one of America's greatest political theaters - the unmitigated voting crapshow know as the Iowa Caucus.

So in summary of the last 24 hours, BH decision to go to SU was already made months ago or ….. He is headed for Providence because SU only has 73.50 in our NIL bag . Correct ??
Hodgson to Syracuse is apparently one of the worst kept secrets in college basketball for the last 12 months. The only leverage Hodgson's agent has in negotiations is him taking another job, so ... here's the only other decent D1 job open this cycle. Good for him for trying, but it's like Scott Boras leaking that the Yankees are interested in one of his clients while he's negotiating a free agent deal for guy who plays right field.

IMO, going to PU instead of SU shows lack of seriousness as a HC in wanting to win on a national level.

It’s all about $$$$. If you put enough $$$ in NIL Siena con compete for a Natty. All about Jimmy’s and Joes with a good coach

BH and his agent just know this game better. This will be his 5th D1 stop not to mention the time in SEC country which honestly is a whole other beast.

No offense to GMac and his agent but they aren’t on the same level with the back channels going on right now. It’s their 2nd real time through the coaching carousel.

Leaking to JAB and others that he was contacted by BC and GT is nowhere near the level of stuff going on right now with Providence. BH is gonna get top dollar and top nil he wants from us and I’m ok with the games as long as it ends up goo for us.

Pay the man and get this done.

To be fair it's not just the Lallys. Lots of fans were not pleased he was retained for a 3rd year.

Firing a former star player after only 2 years (the first of which had 20 wins for the first time in several years) would have been harsh.

They did everything they could to help him this past year, and he bombed.
