I don't know what to think. I do think this news make little sense to me as it stands. Maybe it is agent spin and our new A.D. decided to go in another direction. And the agent decided to throw some shade on his way out the door. This guy has lobbied for the job for over a year. I find it hard to believe he would drop out just like that. We will learn more. I think cooler heads should prevail at this time. Let this play out.

I don’t think it’s Hop or Gmac. Maybe that means we’re really unhappy or maybe it means that it’s so out of left field that it really is a true fresh start.

Could be that Haynie hired an AD that was out of left field with an expectation that he is going to hire a hoops coach out of left field.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we hear that Toledo’s head coach is an option… from my understanding he’s been looking to move up for years now and hasn’t gotten the proper looks. Hes a good coach, but has never gotten over the hump in the MAC tourney. Something to keep an eye on with BBlair

They were not going to overpay him personally coming from where he comes from. I firmly we will beat Providence NIL unequivocally. We offered and told him what we would pay, He declined and made it look favorable for him. This was not NIL it was salary and his agent was classless. I guess him as well. I've been mentioning this since the moment we hired Blair. Not a flashy hire, but who knows what he can do with more resources. Knocked on the door step multiple times and fell short in bizarre fashion.

Track record is ok but I saw a lot of negative comments about him from his own fanbase (albeit after a heartbreaking loss).

Like Bulldog04 's post, people aren't getting chastised for saying it, they are getting flack for 1. If it is true, or 2. People accepting that fate. Imagine if St. John's just accepted that they were a bad brand or Indiana football. It should never be too late. NIL and the portal work both ways, positive and negative.

Well 1 of those has a billionaire willing to light money on fire and no football program. The other has
Multiple billionaires and the largest alumni base in the US. It’s not impossible but this is t about hitting recruiting trails and what conference you’re in. It’s $$$, coach and brand

That's completely fair. And my one biggest reservation with Gerry. Would he adapt his offense more in a better conference with better players.
