Coach Search Options after Autry

Correct - the athletic office believes Gmac is the best option for raising money and putting butts in seats to generate revenue. They are terrified to bring in someone else in fear that a new coach that no one knows will basically have 3000 people show up to the first 10 games
They are correct about that and if our financial situation is that big of a dumpster fire then I guess I get it. Ugh

Well when you read about 2,000 posts in one sitting it is not surprising that I misunderstood the post or the previous post it was referring to. This is not easy reading. Give a girl a break, lol.
I was just explaining. Amazing how fast the posts fly by though!

Ok folks here you go and this is confirmed information from probably the closest person to the program on the donor side -

They aren’t hiring Hop. Even with all the money in the world and support he’s getting, the university knows they can get over the Washington record so that’s out.

However, they are trying to get the Same group of donors that were backing hop to back Gmac. They want Blackwell as well as the 1-2 punch. And they think that is their best way to raise money and basically anyone outside of the family has no shot to raise any sort of money because they don’t know anyone in the community

They are interviewing Hurley this week and a few other “outsiders” that even the university wouldn’t share with this donor

The financials are rough. Really rough. They are asking for sums of money that are literally astronomical and hiring a coach is going to be very hard because of how bad it truly is.

All the players on the team have the intention to come back. Mainly bc they have ZERO offers from other schools. Nate George has an offer from Kentucky and that’s it. Obviously it will be up to the new coach on what to do with the roster.

Have fun

LOL, sounds like the year of preparation we had for this was time well used...

GMAC it is (if he even takes it).

Honestly, if the financials are really that bad, he may want to steer clear completely. I would.

Now let's kick this tomato can down the road...

So our next coach may once again, be someone in-house, because he can help pay for NIL (but no one else in the country wants aside from maybe GT or BC). Then our players from this year's team may all return because no one else wants them.

Hmmm... sounds like a winning strategy.

No Idea Ok GIF

The scariest part- whoever new coach is, if they don’t win in year 1 or show signs of life. Some donors are leaving for good and then we’re in some serious serious serious trouble
Thanks. If financials are so bad how are we going to win in year one? We need several top players from the portal to be slightly competitive. Running back with current roster is not getting us in the tournament. Actually, I doubt they can have a winning season.

That is so incredibly shortsighted it is really beyond belief
It may be shortsighted but if they are in as much trouble financially as being described, I get it. I just hope any possible contract with GMac has performance incentives and a negligible buyout.

I feel so much better now

I think Hodgson and his woman have an out of wedlock kid. Guessing that is a problem. They might need to get married (I know they got engaged) to get a better job than USF.

I suspect that is the plan. Bryan will get married (probably over the summer) and move up to a better job next year.

In the meantime, his agent will tell Goodman he ‘turned down’ PC as well and is going to stay at USF. He might well get a raise but don’t expect USF to add a big fee for leaving for another job.

Meanwhile SU and PC will hire candidates with better backgrounds this cycle.
What is this 1950? Who gives a crap if someone has an “out of wedlock kid”

Good grief

On my gawd. That is so backwards thinking. Consistent winning puts butts in seats. This is madness.

Side note... thanks for sharing all of what you're doing, Bulldog.

Sounds like he is saying Athletic Department financials are bad but GMac could quickly get strong NIL support from Melo and other donors.

When you said Hurley I kept thinking you meant Luke Murray but had a slip … then I realized you meant Bobby.

This post makes so much sense but is so so bad

Allen Griffin, former asst. coach, literally missed a conference game for the birth of his "out-of-wedlock" kid
The idea that the SU admin is playing morality cop given the annual depravity we saw from our hoops team over 40 years is comical. I don't believe it for a second.

Michael Edwards smashed up the Sutter's Mill owner's car with a hammer the first month I was on campus and didn't miss a game. Come on now.

It’s called putting a marketing program together to build excitement. The University is totally brain dead promoting teams. I feel bad for the women. How are they going to be able to keep Ouche?

Don’t shortchange Blackwells TBT experience!!

We cannot take a chance on McNamara! We need to win and win immediately! Jesus Christ it's like they're trying to kill it
I think most of this board is living in fantasy land. There has to be winners and losers in this new world of college sports and the losers are inevitably going to fight that reality to the end but it's hard to see how that reality is going to change absent extraordinary circumstances. I've not even looked at a bracket yet as I move college hoops to the shelf. Go yanks.

What in the blue hell is wrong with these donors and do they even watch or follow other college basketball teams/coaches.
