Coach Search Options after Autry

Well I never raved about Red, thought it should have been Gerry.
And I thought most of his press conferences were cringe worthy.
But I will give you Dino, the first year or two.
He was a charmer at first, with a decent resume

I do not think everyone will be happy. A lot fans are tired of legacy hires. Gerry has only shown a couple of season. He may turn out to be a great coach I just don’t think the university can take the risk at this point.

If it's GMAC, get him an offensive master class assistant and let that assistant run a modern offense. And I would be on board...

Pair him with an up-and-comer exciting young O-coach like UCONN did with Murray...

That's my biggest worry. We need a modern offense and he'll need a good O-coach to help him build and implement that.

That would mean GMAC delegates, which I think would be GREAT for his growth as a coach and something that JB and Red couldn't/wouldn't do... I really hope GMAC sees that as an opportunity.

If not, I have doubts the Siena-style offense is gonna work well long-term in the ACC...

True, but we know where's he's been and what he's run at Siena. If he's gonna run something else, then it will novel to him and he'll be running it for the first time. That's inherently high-risk without help.

Dude barely showed up to games for Autry. It’s messed up. You saw Coach K and Roy supporting there assistants nearly every game.

It was deliberate at least for the first year so he wouldn’t steal the spotlight.

If you read this entire thread, specifically the last couple pages, you'll know I just want to win. I would not be unhappy with either candidate. I just don't like the GMac or we're doomed mentality. Or, for that matter, the Never GMac crowd. He's shown a lot.

Pretty much sums me up too (without the cranky "stay on topic or I'm gonna pull this car over" tendencies ).

I have talked to a lot of casual SU fans this week and every single one wants GMAC
Only die hard college basketball fans want someone else.

Let’s just say there won’t be a huge jump in season ticket sales after the announcement we are hiring Schertz.
If they announce it is GMAC, they might crash the Cuse.com site.

The only thing that matters is getting the coach that can win, if Gerry comes here and doesn't get in the tournament with somewhat of a good seed and win a couple games the good feelings will be over. 12 years of bad basketball has to end , and if mediocrity happens next year with Gerry he needs to be gone.
You can't keep doing the same stupid thing year after year.
That's why you really need to look at more then this year for a coach and what they have done.

I can’t help but see how Gerry and his Siena level talent lost by 4 in the closing minutes to the number one team in the country and Schertz with his higher level St Louis talent (higher than Siena) just got destroyed by Michigan. Flipping destroyed!
Games with all the spotlights on matter. BH and USF weren’t ready to play Louisville earlier and St Louis just had their shorts pulled over their head.
