Hopefully GMAC is up for the task and succeeds. I really hope he pulls it off. It would be heart-wrenching to see another player-legend fail here back-to-back.

If not, we had opportunities to hire solid, much more qualified outside coaches that were purposely scuttled. Boeheim and his sycophants will have to own that if Gerry isn't it... Not us "stupid" fans.

One thing is now abundantly clear ... It's still HIS program and the school isn't getting it back until it's pried from his cold, dead hands.

We need to hope that McNamara has a different offensive concept than what we've seen the last 10 years.

I don't know that anyone can say that definitively.

Hope he has more tools in his tool kit than either Red or Hopkins did. What I don't want is more iso ball, with poor execution, and lack of purposeful movement without the ball.

How could he given where he learned how to be a coach? We are playing out the definition of insanity.

sure, but if you can’t get the donors or BOT to back any of your candidates what’s he gonna do? Not saying that is what happened, but it certainly had the feel of the old guard wanting gmac vs Blair vetting more options.

This thread, oh boy. I can’t put it down, but can’t stop reading it.
None of this is under our control. I hope it’s Gerry, and I hope he succeeds. Obviously.
But to those who hate the idea of Gerry, you also have zero evidence that YOUR GUY would have any success. Your guy could completely bomb at a new school. Do a complete Red, or a Dino, or a Grob. Hope for success, hope for a long outstanding Boeheim, Knight, Coach K type run.
And look on the bright side of the Gerry experiment… if it doesn’t work, we can have another 1000 page thread in a couple years!!!

He finished 3rd in the regular season and lost 7 games in a terrible conference with the most NIL.

He lost 4 players. Both of his starting big men - one to injury in Dec and one to NCAA’s eligibility issues two weeks before the end of the season.His sixth man who was supposed to be 3 and d missed the whole season with a shoulder injury. Lost another bench player. That makes 4. And Mulvey was out with a concussion from mid dec to about the end of Jan. He really didn’t see significant minutes till mid Feb.
Gerry is a very good coach but you physically need bodies. He only had 7, 2 of which were incredibly inexperienced freshmen who were never intended to play much.

And still he won his conference tournament and took Duke to the wall while playing on fumes.

If that isn’t good enough to prove he is a good coach, I don’t know what else to say.

The Siena/Duke game heaven on earth for those who wanted GMac.

If they lose to Merrimack in the conference final - this is a very hard sell. But the conference title plus the near Duke upset with all the media talking about GMac to Cuse …it’s all the admin needed
