5 years is the standard deal for most coaches these days. Almost no one will sign something less. Also protects the school. If Gerry (or whoever comes) is a success, you got him locked in at a good deal. There is the flip side of that as well. But I can’t imagine the buyout would be astronomical.

I’m disappointed, but not surprised. I’ve always felt that given choices, we’d pick the cheapest (and worst) one. Now I’ll always hope for the best for SU. But my expectations have cratered. I expect another 3-4 years of mediocrity, and don’t know if I’ll have many more before I shuffle off this mortal coil.

Was thinking this when someone mentioned the other day that we haven't had a quick guard like High Point in forever. Mintz was one of the best we've had in terms of getting downhill. Defense was putrid both of those seasons though and we basically didn't attempt 3 pointers. PGs like Judah are basically a pre-requisite for having success with the isolation/high ball screen type offensive sets that we've run in recent years but it can only be so effective when the defense have 3 help defenders camped inside the paint waiting for you.
