I agree with that. I was dead set against in the first place. He had no other options at the time. What was the rush?

it maybe a poor move to offer and then rescind the offer but its not like SU is the only school that does this. I think we took a few kids early in this class that we could of waited on

Last thing this program needs is more negative attention. The staff is also for an early signing period, so would they have signed this kid even though they didn't really want him? Coaching might be similar between D3 and D1, but recruiting sure isn't.
If nothing else, SU should go out and get another recruiting staff member to add to the staff (as well as prepare for White's eventual departure to somewhere bigger). No coaching limit to worry about there, so get it done.

theres a reason for lack of communication with him, hes not a d 1 player according to staff.

those of us on the recruiting board not mentioned have known about this for a while. Staff re evaluated and decided that he wasn't worthy of the offer

So, some people don't see an issue with changing recruiting philosophy 2 months before Signing Day? Great, we can go swipe a bunch of AAC/CUSA verbals- that will close the talent gap.
We should just look all the verbals of Western Michigan and Northern Illinois not AAC/CUSA schools.

If SS and staff changed their minds on this kid you man up and tell him and not ignore them and their communication with your staff. That is wrong and could be use against us in the future on the recruiting trail.

Kid said we ignored his messages since September. Two sides to every story, but if that's true it's pretty lame. At least it's pretty lame for a coach who is supposed to be such a straight shooter.

What I don't get is this kid had only one other offer, so if the coaches told him they didn't want him months ago, why would he wait until now to decommit? Wouldn't he want the extra time to try and get a scholarship somewhere, or is he trying to get a sympathy offer?
I'm sure there are two sides, but I don't know why the kid would make this up.

They may have changed their mind in the kid but shafer keeps saying how he's a players coach and he want the best possible character players. Doesn't this kind of show shafers character. Hey kid come to Syracuse we want you, oh wait I changed my mind but I'm not going to return messages and I'm going to screw you over. Unreal, oh and the best part is the attention this is now getting because it's the second time this has happened in a month.
