Love Baber's and this staff's potential, but I have seen so many things this game that are concerning. We are throwing the ball with great effectiveness down the field the entire first half so what do we do? Resort to running the ball and screen passes. It does not make sense to me that they do not stick to what is working. Also, how about knowing your personnel? Throw Fredericks in for a pass play instead of utilizing him between the tackles? I won't even comment about the defense because they didn't inherent much. Just a lot of questionable move this game and it was a winnable game. Not sure what happened to having some **** and going to it on 4th down either. Upsetting in so many ways.

You are absolutely correct. That is why the things I mentioned were all controllable aspects of the game. Consistently utilizing plays on offense that Notre Dame hasn't been able to stop. No way we should have 40+ points right now. Throw it down the field!

ND has NFL talent, especially on offense. That's why they are winning. Team with the better players is winning.

SU is hanging tough but they are over matched

I agree with this. But, how do upsets happen then? How did duke win?

Duke has better players than Syracuse. Not knocking Syracuse it's just a fact
Not sure I agree with this. I would say Duke has a better defense by far, but offensively Syracuse>>Duke.

Duke also played a slower game, which favors the underdog. We did/are doing the exact wrong thing if our goal is to win games this season.

However, as painful as it is, winning games this season isn't really our goal. If we're still not doing well by the end of next season, I'll get concerned. Until then, I'm writing this off as part of a learning curve.

EXACTLY!
Really, this season's got a HUGE learning curve. In a sense, we're kind of asking raw recruits out of boot to stand toe-to-tow with battle hardened Waffen SS troops.

Guessing the coaches saw something on tape and installed that tunnel screen in practice this week. The players did not seem comfortable running it at all.

Nd is a 7 win team this year, they just lost at home to Duke. The fact that we lost by 3 scores, and it wasn't even really that close, is a bit alarming.

I disagree that playing fast is not the best way to win games this season. I've seen enough oo know what playing slow gets us.

I don't think it's alarming. It was basically a 48-35 game.

But I think we made mistakes on the field and on the sidelines that prevented that from being a competitive game to the end.

It's an awful play. Oline was in the way!

there really is no defense or special teams. part of it is coaching and the majority is the lack of talent. many of us said pre-season that the biggest concern was the d and the oline---it is now obvious. this season is a gimme for babers, next season is not if he stays this course. he needs to demonstrate the ability to coach a whole team and not just the offense.
i have said before that u can get away with a offense that has gimmicks for awhile, but not on defense. even the offense showed dungey running for his life several times. nd is NOT THAT GOOD,we are a mid- mid-major at this point.
i do believe that babers can adapt to this level, but he needs to take a hard look at the whole picture and not just the offense.

wow...gimmicks? You haven't a clue.

Then you disagree with statistics and/or you think that the Baylor offense is easily implemented with athletes that were recruited for a very different offensive and defensive systems.

Love your posts bcubs. Like most fans, I'm tempering my strong emotions from this game by reminding myself that this is the case. I hope you don't get too discouraged by many of the over the top posts from the fanbase. The board is a nerve-wracking place for a parent, I hope you stick around and continue to contribute.

Do they? They lost by 2 tds to Uva today, and they have lost to Nwestern.

And we just lost on a neutral field to a team they beat in their own house. Common opponent, they beat them we lost to them. Pretty much sums it up.

Not saying Duke is great, they just have more talent than us this year
