SHOULD we win? Always. Is Colgate worse this year than last few? Apparently so.

Last year we were down 20 and rallied to win. Two years ago we lost. Three years ago we got crushed.

I maintain we need to be careful with this one.

If we struggle again, it would seem to mean we’re not as good as Drexel or Bonnies. Given the apparent talent differences, that’s simply unacceptable.

We can't afford to lose games to a Colgate this season (or, any season for that matter). But goal is the tournament and need to bank this one.

It's absurd that it's even come to this where we need to have any concern w/r/t Colgate, but c'est la vie.

We need to come out and put our foot on their throats. If there is any defensive capability, we need to see it tonight in execution and effort.

I think the offense will still be a bit janky, but I think we can score enough to get this one.

The last game is done. Whatever, let's get win #2 and keep improving.

yeah this feels like a big game - go out and beat the pulp out of Colgate and get some needed juice flowing and see what we can do from there on forward. Stumble again, even in a win and it just perpetuates the concern and uncertainty

Shots may not be falling but a team should always be able to defend.
Tough defense wins games
No defense loses them.
On the best days it ekes out a win over a team with much lower individual skill levels.

The Orange need to show they can defend.

I watched the Lemoyne game live and did not zero in on any particularly bad defensive plays from Carlos. Saw the freakout about his defensive game in the game thread and looked some more at the full game replay on youtube...and I still did not see any serious mistakes.

One of the first half foul calls was total bs where he got all ball on a block, and another was to stop a basket in transition against a much larger guy coming at him full steam, so it is not like he got into foul trouble due to bad defense either. One at the beginning of the second half was also a questionable call. Meanwhile I can find several blatant examples of Donnie, Bell, JJ, Lampkin, and even Davis getting beat off the dribble 1v1. In fact I would say I saw PLENTY of quality 1v1 defensive plays from Carlos! He also was victim to some not so subtle moving screens from Lemoyne that the refs finally started calling late.

Maybe I eat crow for this, but the narrative on his defense after one game seems extremely overblown. His defense looks quality. Would recommend taking another look at the replay if you are seriously concerned.

Matt Park said late last week that Chance was even practicing during the times he’s been at practice. Hard to imagine he’d play anytime soon. Hope he recovers from whatever is going on.
