ACC- 4
Clemson, NC State, Miami, Virginia Tech
Any of these teams if they end the season with 1 loss are locks assuming Miami’s 1 loss isn’t in the ACC title game.

Big Ten- 4
Ohio State, Pennsylvania State, Michigan State, Wisconsin.

Same as above win the conference with 0 or 1 loss and you are in.

SEC- 2
Alabama, Georgia
I want to call Alabama a lock already but I guess they could lose 2 games even though I don’t see it
Georgia needs to do more to convince they belong in if they lose to Alabama.

Big XII- 3
TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State

Finish with 1 loss and with the new Big XII title game you are in.

PAC-12-1
Washington
The Huskies are still alive but the conference is in trouble.

Independent-Notre Dame
If they win out they will make it and take the ACC slot.

Pecking order right now
1. Alabama
2. Big Ten Champ
3. 1 loss ACC Champ/Notre Dame
4. 1 loss Big XII Champ

5. Georgia with 1 loss to Alabama
6. PAC-12 Champ.

Georgia doesn't play Alabama this year unless they meet in the SEC Title game. (Have they clinched that berth?)

They still have to play at Auburn and at GT.

And if ND keeps winning, their road win over ND will be just as impressive as Oklahoma's win over Ohio State.

They might get in even if they lose to Bama in SEC title game...

Washington State has a shot as well if they win out - albeit a long shot. I really, really want Georgia to lose prior to the SEC title game. I can very easily see the ACC getting shafted by a 12-1 Georgia.

Agreed. If Georgia is 11-0 going into title game and ND wins out, I think Georgia would be a lock even if they lose the title game...

Man do I hate the loss model of CFB. Losses are losses. If you lose in week 1 to a nobody and then win 12 straight, it's better than winning 12 straight and losing to a top 25 team.

The worst.

Georgia needs Notre Dame to beat Miami and NC State to hurt the ACC.

I will say I doubt the committee would put 12-1 Georgia over a 12-1 Clemson or Virginia Tech.

Conference titles up till last year mattered.

This committee is a new so we will see what they have as important.
Oklahoma’s win at Ohio State along with the Big XII having a title game will likely get a 1 loss Big XII in the playoff this year.

I think the SEC, Big Ten, ACC, Big XII are in the drives seat.

This is the old model.
It sucked.

It used to be if you lost you automatically dropped no matter what no matter who you lost too.

The committee up till last year was rewarding who you played and weren’t following the old model.

The committee last year used what they thought was the eye test in rewarding Ohio State over Pennsylvania State. Even though Pennsylvania State won the conference title and had the head to head win.

What about in 2014?

TCU lost on the road to #5 baylor. Won all their other games including 4 ranked teams.

Ohio State lost at HOME to unranked VA Tech. They beat 2 ranked teams and one was a neutral field.

The committee can stink too. Just like the BCS could.

If ND wins out - the ACC is in trouble. As they will have beaten Miami and NC State. Bama is a lock as is any 1 loss Big 10 team (unfortunately). I'm afraid the doomsday scenario for the ACC is a 12-1 ND, a 12-1 Georgia, 13-0 Bama, and the Big 10 Champ. Even if Clemson won out - I'm afraid they'd be left behind.

As Kaiser said that year the committee screwed the Big XII because they didn’t have a conference title game and the extra game.

Ohio State jumped TCU because the committee gave credence to conference titles.
That year TCU and Baylor were co-champs.

The committee showed they were FOS last year though when Ohio State jumped Penn State when they won h2h and the conference title.

It's not TCU's fault their conference didn't have a title game. They get penalized for beating 4 ranked teams? Just pointing out the committee has flaws too

TCU was one of the four best teams that year but the conference title game screwed that conference it’s why they added it this year.

If TCU has a conference title game that year I think they stay ahead of Ohio State.

Losing 37-3 to a mediocre Cal team, not going to happen.

I think miami loses 2 more. you cant play win every game down the stretch and get away with it that many times.

If ND runs the table and Georgia's only loss is to Alabama in the SEC Championship, I cannot see the committee keeping Georgia out.

If ND starts to falter then that win becomes less impressive and it opens the door.

I think Georgia is in the driver's seat but ND will determine if they stay there...(assuming, of course, that Georgia wins out until SEC championship).

I think it will be:
1. Bama
2. Ped St/OSU/Wiscy
3. Georgia(assuming 1 loss is to Bama) or Big XII Champ
4. Clemson/ND

Clemson is absolutely a lock for the playoff if we win out, even though I don't think we will. Doesn't matter what else happens.
Have you heard anything about how Bryant is doing? I heard Dabo made a generic statement about Bryant getting better every day but he was hurting pretty badly not that long ago. He may be crucial to Clemson's chances in the playoff but has been getting banged up. Will he be healthy enough through the remaining games?

And if your one loss is to an 8 win team, that'll help. We'll do everything we can to pitch in. ;)

He is absolutely crucial. We can't make a run at the ACC or playoff without him. He's around 85% healthy (they say). However, the coaching staff also said he was healthy going into the Syracuse game and he clearly wasn't. I honestly don't know what to believe anymore.

Notre Dame plays NC State this week and that is an elimination game, loser has no shot.
VT plays Miami and to me that is an elimination game as loser has no shot.
And if ND wins and Miami beats VT, they play each other in a few weeks and that is to me an elimination game.
Out of those 4 teams ND, NC State, Miami and VT only 1 team will be left standing most likely come November and then depending on what Clemson does will mean no ACC team gets in or just 1. If Clemson has only 1 loss and ND only has 1 loss they both go and someone else is getting screwed

Bama, psu, notre dame would make me spew
Me too but lets be honest it would probably be the highest rated playoff/final 4/championship game assuming the 4th team isn't some dog team ever. Those are 3 legendary programs you have the northeast with PSU, you light up TV sets across the country with ND and especially in the mid-west. Having those 3 teams in a final four would have ESPN doing back-flips
