What did you guys want him to say? Exactly the fans and his thoughts and feelings? He’s not going to do that in a public setting. Thought the responses were fine and diplomatic.

If your boss had a problem with you or any other employee, would those grievances be aired out to the entire company and public? Or would those conversations be held in a private setting?

So then say nothing at this point. It's not helping the situation with what he said yesterday.

Damn those will be Q4 losses not Q3

/ cue the - It just doesn’t matter! -
bit from Meatballs.

Quadrants, NET, SOS, etc are all completely irrelevant when you’re going to have a losing regular season record.

The only things that are gonna happen after we lose in the ACCT,
are that GMac is gonna go fishing, and JAB is gonna go golfing.

I wonder if this team has what it takes to get double digit wins. I think it will be a nail bitter.

Because public facing figures that avoid the press go over so well.

What he said was fine - and if people can actually read between the lines it was better than that.

I was pointing to it being a no win scenario. It didn't move the needle either way much. The between the lines comment seems a bit hopeful to me. It will be whatever it's going to be and we will see if that ends up being positive or destructive.

Unless we get into Bobby Knight territory I would think / hope the needle-moving statement would come from JB.

We will see. It's beyond being upsetting anymore. Just numb and at peace with the program being down and out until it hopefully isn't anymore.

Looking at the track record - “One horse town” Jake was a PR disaster at the end - but later we learned the accounting at the university was basically set up in a way that ensured the athletic department couldn’t succeed. In part because the BOT thought we could go cheap and still be competitive in the Big East in football.

Then we hire Gross who was a clown - but I don’t think fans really bought his schtick from the start. Dude couldn’t even be bothered to buy Syracuse luggage! Terrible hire.

Coyle is hated, but he was probably competent enough to realize the athletic department was a dumpster fire and didn’t think he could fix it quickly enough and bolted. Now JW is here, and we’re hearing whispers of more BOT meddling tying his hands regarding basketball.

I don’t think the athletic director has ever been the root cause problem at Syracuse - the root cause is a BOT that is some combination of clueless, indifferent, and cheap in regards to athletics. They say athletics is like the front porch of the university since it’s what everyone can see - Syracuse has a BOT who doesn’t care about curb appeal at all.

It’s getting hard to care about the sports teams when I realize the university is run by people who don’t.
Can you expand on what you mean by BOT meddling in basketball?

I’m just pulling from comments here. BOT has a fiduciary responsibility, so I didn’t have a problem if they wouldn’t sign off on terminating Babers last year…I could see that logic. If there’s people who feel JB should coach until he decides to hang it up regardless how bad things get AND/OR think he should be able to name his successor without a national search conducted - that’s a problem.

All I have is hearsay to go on - but it’s not like the BOT has a track record that would make those unthinkable.
