Concerts Thread

Thought we’d get a music thread going for live shows. We’re actually heading to Canandaigua this weekend to see the Black Keys with Gary Clark Jr and the Heavy Heavy. I’ve seen Gary Clark before but first time for the others.
I had tickets for the concert with most of this lineup at Darien that was supposed to happen but was cancelled in 2020 due to covid. CMAC is a great venue. It has better sound than Darien. I couldn't pull this one off given that I have two weekday concerts already booked. I am seeing Silversun Pickups tomorrow night and Phantogram next week.

I’ve never been but am excited. Enjoy those shows as well. I like silversun.

Great show! Didn’t realize the Heavy Heavy picks up opening duties this week so the wife was a bit disappointed about that. But CMAC is a great place to see a show.

Next up is Bob Mould here in Burlington.

Nice! I think I've seen The Black Keys live three times. They put on a really fun show.

Friday I'm going to see Billy Idol and Joan Jett. Pretty stoked for it.

It’s funny you started a concert thread. I began working on a project recently to try and chart and find every set/band I have ever seen. I didn’t know you could do this on Setlist FM but it’s been a blast(and free). I’m currently at 1,059 different sets by 526 different artists. The band I have seen the most thus far is Bad Religion at 42 times! Wild.

I've seen Bruce 60+ times and have all the setlists.

First time was in the Syracuse War Memorial, coming up on 47 years ago (9/12/78).

Btw Joan Jett and Billy Idol was a really fun concert. Just straight forward rock.

Billy Idol performed a newish song that I wasn't familiar with that I liked quite a bit.

Nice! They are both terrific live.

Just saw the Heavy Heavy in DC a couple months back at this tiny 500 person venue. One of my favorite active bands right now.

The venue always has a little shop set up to sell the band's merch and for the first time among the 20 or so concerts I've been to here, the two lead singers were selling the merch themselves after the concert. I now own an autographed record despite not owning a record player lol.

Got to chat with them for a bit; they loved the vintage-styled rooftop bar at the venue but were annoyed that they weren't allowed to smoke up there.

Hope y'all enjoyed. Gary Clark is on my bucket list to see here too.

Next concert for me coming up is Durand Jones and the Indications. Already saw Durand Jones solo once and he is absurdly talented.

Saw Bob Mould last night at Higher Ground here in South Burlington.

J Robbin’s opened doing a solo acoustic set. He was really good. Robbin’s got his start in the DC area singing for Jawbox in the 90s. Spent time between each song tuning his guitar (had some new strings he did not like) and chatting to the crowd.

Mould came out 25 minutes after Robbins finished, with no intro or fanfare. Played his electric guitar solo the whole time without ever replacing it like you see at most shows these days. He sounded fantastic for a 64-year old guy and he still kills it on guitar. Just don’t know that I can say this is the best way to see him. He barely paused between songs, and if you know him, he’s got a bit of a formula. Played a lot of everything from his time in the business but changed up the delivery of a couple of his Sugar hits to where they were almost unrecognizable. Can’t say it was my favorite show of the year.

I was there, too. Saw Dylan play that fine concert venue a few days later (9/22/78). Good times.

If you guys have a chance to see any of your favorite acts at The Sphere, just find a way. I just got back from the second straight night of Zac Brown Band and it was the most incredible concert experience I’ve ever had.
Based on what I’ve seen online, I think it’s everyone’s greatest concert / movie / F1 etc experience period.

We were thinking about going to No Doubt. I loved them when they were a ska band. I don’t think they are the first band I want to see at The Sphere though.

Looks like me and the wife will be back in Canandaigua for a concert this summer. Death Cab for Cutie is playing at CMAC in July I believe. Tix on sale tomorrow

I saw this and was excited. Good opening bands as well. I just happen to have family in town and will be too busy to go. I may try to catch them in a different city.

If ya end up making a weekend out of it I'll swing up and see ya for a bit. I spend the summers about 20 minutes from CMAC
